My mom left when I was 10. She told me she was going to go get some groceries and just never came back. My dad never told me what really happened to her. I guess he just doesn't like talking about it. One time I asked him why she did what she did and his answer was "I don't want to talk about it" and left the room. He didn't come back out till the next morning. I never asked him again.
When I get back from school my dad is sitting on the couch with his face sucked into his computer.
"Hey dad watcha lookin at?"
He looks up to me and smirks.
"What?"
"We're going to Mammoth Mountain."
My dad knows how much I love Mammoth Mountain. I scream. I scream as loud as I can and jump with joy. I haven't been there in almost 2 years. I must be competing for something. So when I finally calm down I ask him.
"Why are we going there?"
"We will be competing in the half pipe and slope style in the Dew Tour."
The Dew Tour is the practically the final step to going to Sochi. This is one of the most important competitions EVER!!!
"When are we leaving?"
"2 days."
"Thanks for the notice. Really."
He never gives me much of a notice.
Once I realize that I only have 2 days to train for this I go up to the hills with my dad. My dads the one who trains me and its really fun to go snowboarding with him.
We go to the half pipe and warm up. It's probably like 10 degrees out. But in me Nike outfit I feel like its 40 degrees (which is pretty warm to me.)
"Taylor take my camera."
"Umm why?"
"You'll see." Then he smirks. This isn't good.
The next thing I see is him getting naked in front of me.
"Oh dad, no I don't need to see that!"
"Only a pro goes snowboarding naked at least once in there lifetime."
I actually had to laugh a little at that statement. It's true though. Ill confess I did run naked in a snow storm once.
As my dad gets on his snowboard(naked) he starts doing some pretty cool tricks. It starts snowing out and I snap every trick he does and once his butt is frozen(literally) we gets his gear on and we just die on the ground laughing.
That's the first time since my mom left that I've actually had a good time with my dad.
