After dinner, we all went to the TV room and watched some shows. Some were familiar others i had no idea what they were about. That night I dressed down to my Pj's and climbed into my wonderful and comfortable bed. It felt like I was laying on clouds. Minus the actual wetness of a cloud, but you get the point. I turned to my side and glanced to the double doors that led to my small balcony. The moonlight shined through and then my sight became clouded with my thoughts. I thought back to the things I did remember and the pictures I've seen around my room trying to think back to that very moment. Then I thought of Travis, my very good looking, and young physical therapist. The presents he gave me earlier today made me smile into my pillow. Then there's the fact that I'm attracted to guys and wasn't sure if my family or friends knew about it. For now i'm going to keep it low key until I remember if everyone knew or not.
Next thing I knew I was deep asleep. There's a myth saying that when you dream, you can sometimes dream about your past life. In this case, it couldn't be more true. When I woke up, I had no memory of my life. It was all new to me, as if I was just born into the middle of a story. It scared me not knowing where I came and who I was. I was just thrown into a place where strangers say that they're family or others saying they knew me so well... Luckily some memory was coming back to me, just in baby steps. The moments they occurred was more like pointless flashbacks. Tonight, however, it was a jump to the more into the present then the usual timeline they had been coming in.
I was in a school bus and looking out the window. It had stopped raining but the windows were still spotted with water drops. I kept my eye on a drop as it trailed down. "Can I sit here?" a boy asked standing to the seat right beside me. I looked up at this Hazel eyes. "Sure." I said shyly and scooted a couple inches over. He sat down right beside me and smiled sympathetically.
"Wake up Danny its already 12 you slept long enough for months." my mom said opening the curtains. I looked over at the time 11:35. Oh sure its 12 alright. She was right about sleeping for a long time but I was sure tired for some reason. "I'm going to head into work in 30 minuets so your sister is going to stay home with you." she said. Then came over and brushed my bangs back "Also I made breakfast for you, so hurry its getting cold dear."
I yawned in reply. "Alright mom." I basically yawned and stretched my way out of bed. I ran through my hair with my fingers. I had some tangles. I don't see why my old self wanted to grow out my hair. I grabbed my walker and rolled to the staircase. I felt like an elderly and the walker just completed the look.
My mom had made french toast, accompanied by bacon, eggs, and hash-browns. Perfect Breakfast for a perfect new day. I savored every bite. "so wheres dad?" I asked my mom as she finished loading the dish washer. He has work early but hell be here at five thirty. and now i have to get going have fun in therapy." she said pulling my head in and kissing me on the four head. Noticed that she didn't say physical therapy? That's because my parents, mostly my dad, thought it'd be a great idea to actually have a therapist talk to me. It was going to be the best money could buy. Of course I kinda thought it would be a waste of time.
"Good morning," my sister says walking in. "so I'm you're designated driver for today." she said happily. "Want to go to the mall?" she asked happily.
"Umm aren't I supposed to go see the therapist."
"Why its not like your crazy?" she added. "Only crazy people and celebrities go to that."
I chuckled and rolled my eyes.
"Okay we can go then."
"How about after?" I asked. She smiled in agreement.
After long hours of getting ready we were on our way.
The Therapist was in this high end clinic, Me and Jackie stayed in the waiting room waiting to be called.
"Daniel Callaway." the receptionist said in an Australian accent. Dr. Kean will see you now.
"Wish me luck, I told my sister."
"Hello, Daniel. I'm Mrs Keane. please have a seat." she gestured to a upholstered chair. It was a woman who looked to be about in her mid forties. She had brown hair and was wearing a black blazer with a shiny broach. "I read your file it must be shocking to wake up with no sense of self being." she said as she sat on her chair with a notebook and pen.
"yeah its pretty shocking. Like waking up from the world's worst hangover..." I joked. she didn't take it, she remained contempt. "I imagine." I finished.
"How does it make you feel?" she asked writing stuff down. Yup. I don't like this woman.
"I don't know."
"You don't know how you feel?"
"Its hard to explain." I added trying not to act dumb.
"Its perfectly understandable at your state, waking up from a long coma. There are bound to be many emotions you might be experiencing." Sure lady why don't you tell me how I feel...
The rest of the meeting went the same way she wanted me to talk about my first day waking up and every detail after that. She asked dumb questions and I tried not to give dumb answers.
"So how was it?" Jackie asked.
"Boring" I said as she drove into the mall parking garage. "I don't feel like we should be paying someone just to judge me." I joked.
She laughed. As we entered the mall, It felt very familiar. I must've been here all the time, judging from my wardrobe. "So where should we go first?" my sister said enthusiastically.
I shrugged. "Oh right." she said. "okay we will go jumping around." she said happily.
The first store we went into was AGACI. Jackie looked at almost everything then went to try them on asking me about what I thought of each one. At what felt like 2 hours in the store, we made our way to checkout. And While she was paying for her stuff i got the feeling like I was being watched. I looked up from my crossed arms and noticed that two girls were watching me. They, of course, avoided eye contact and looked away when I turned my head toward them.
Two stores later at Express/ Express men. That feeling came up again. This time it was two guys looking at me. They looked to be around my age but like most people, They didn't look familiar. "Is it me or are they staring at me?" I asked Jackie. She turned around then went back to sorting through hangers.
"They probably went to your school. Or... they're checking us out." she smiled. "I'm kidding!" she nudged me probably noticing me blush. "It could be because of your interview with a vampire hair." she played.
"Or that." I smiled. It could've been anything, however I couldn't shake the negative feeling i felt about it...
