I awoke with my alarm clock blaring at me, telling me it was time for another dreadful day of school. I didn't want to have to face Luke again, and his dreadful self. I knew that when we were alone it was a little better, but when we were at school or in the public, he would find ways to humiliate me. And I'm pretty sure that he was going to do just that. I slid out of bed, and fell on the ground. I lied there, staring at the ceiling for a few minutes. I didn't feel like getting up. I finally decided to arise, and I walked to my closet. I decided to dress more like a girl, and less like a rock chick today.I slipped on a light pastel blue skirt that went a little bit above my mid-thigh, and a plain black tee shirt that was a little tighter than usual. I still slipped on my black converse.
I checked myself in the mirror, feeling a little strange wearing a skirt, but I wanted to wear it today.
I walked downstairs slowly, taking my time. I spotted Ashton's car outside and grabbed an apple on my way out of the door.
"Hey Ash," I said as I opened the door.
"Hey Isabelle. Whoa, what are you wearing?" He said eyeing me.
"I felt like wearing a skirt. I know, shocker."
He let out a little chuckle and drove off.
I grabbed my bag and Ashton hopped out of the car and walked around to open the door for me.
"M'lady," he said bowing.
I giggled, "Thank you, kind sir."
I walked into school with my anxiety high, hoping I wouldn't run into Luke. I saw Luke, and I swiftly turned the other corner. I went to my locker and grabbed my books. I let out a huff realising that Luke has 1st period with me. I walked into the classroom slowly, dragging my feet along.
Luke was already sitting down at his desk, smirking at me slightly. His friend that I didn't know was sitting next to him. Luke leaned in and whispered something to him, looking back at me. The guy's eyebrows shot in the air, and he shot me a weird look. My cheeks were flaming.
"Hi Isabelle." Luke waved at me.
"Hi," I breathed out silently.
"What are you wearing?" He said, one eyebrow raised. Despite our differences, Luke knows me well from when we were younger.
"I don't know. Felt like it," I said turning around, focusing on my work, waiting for the teacher to come in. I could feel Luke burning holes into the back of my head.
The school day passed by like a blur, and as I walked to my locker I spotted Luke leaning against it.
"Luke what are you doing here?" I said whining.
"Well you obviously have to come over to finish our project," Luke said while his lips were curled into a smirk.
"Oh yeah I kind of forgot about that."
"Let's go, yeah?" Luke said leading me the way out, holding the door for me.
I raised my eyebrow at him.
"What? I can be a gentlemen sometimes," Luke said chuckling.
I rolled my eyes and walked with him to his car.
I opened the car door and slid into the front seat. He put in a Green Day 21st Century Breakdown CD.
Luke quietly sung along to Murder City, and I was captivated by his angelic voice. I stayed silent the whole ride, listening attentively to Luke's voice.
