"JENNA IS TYPING."

Ryan burst into my room.

"ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME, RUBY ANGELINE ROSS?" He threw his phone at me.

"Honestly, I'm trying my best not to. Also, don't throw your phone at me again."

Ryan walked over to me to retrieve his phone as I laid on my bed. "Why are you staring at a blank screen?"
I had been waiting for a phone call or a text from Kai. It was almost 1am, she should be home, right? Right?

"I'm waiting for Kai to text me back."

"That sucks," he said, disinterested, then laughed. "At least Jenna is typing..."

"Shut up. This is serious, I was getting weird vibes from the guy she was dating."

"Isn't she dating Brendon?" then, "He seemed like a pretty cool guy to me."

"You probably just have a man-crush on him, Ryan."

Instead of objecting my comment like I expected, he said, "What can I say? He's a good looking guy."

I laughed. "Yeah that's true—wait, we're getting off topic. Don't you remember when that football player, Harper, came out of the hallway with a bloody nose?"

"Yes, I do. He looked pretty bad. It was funny."

"That's also true, but I'm pretty sure Brendon did that. But more importantly, isn't it weird that right after he broke up with that blonde airhead, Mia Clarence, she disappeared?"

Ryan's eyebrows furrowed. "That's really suspicious. I say call her."

          Then his eyebrows went up and he shot up and jumped from the bed. "SHE RESPONDED...aaand she said...she's not looking for...a relationship." He buried his head in his hands.

          "What were you expecting? She probably still trying to get over Tyler. Give her some time."

          "Alright then. I guess I'll leave you alone now so you can talk to Kai. Bye," he then left the room, smirking at how 'Kai' and 'Bye' rhymed.

          I pressed on her contact name and it began to dial. It barely rang twice when a monotonous voice came over the speaker.

"The person you are currently trying to reach can not take calls at this time."

          I threw my pillow at the wall.
