~Part 2~
I stood in the middle of the park staring up at the clouds, the sounds of children playing and laughing fading into the background. The sky looked as blue as it had been when I had woken up in the hospital that day 10 years ago.
Since then I had lived in many foster homes, going from one to another, never staying there for more than a month.
I was still standing there, staring up at the clouds when Hydan (Hyde for short) walked up to me, giving me a slight shove to get my attention. Hyde and I had been together for 6years and he had become my most trusted brother. We met when I was assigned to his parents house as their new foster kid. When I had arrived, we didn't get along. We would usually get into arguments that would result into fights but his parents didn't get rid of me. In fact, it was the opposite. The more I resisted, the more persistent they became.
A small smile came across my face as I greeted him back with a shove. We headed toward the station, talking about random nonsense when I saw her. She was standing on the platform, her hair cascading down behind her. I stopped and stared. I felt Hyde bump into me but I didn't react, still spellbound by her beauty."Hey Jayke, why'd you stop?" Hyde asked, looking over my shoulder.
At the sound of my name, I snap out of my stupor.
"Uh...it was nothing, we better hurry up or we're going to be late." I stutter, rushing up the stairs and onto the platform.
We pick up the speed when we hear the conductor shout that the train was leaving. Rushing to the train, we jump on just as the doors were closing.
"That was a close one, wasn't it?" Hyde says as we both collapse, trying to catch our breaths.
We stay there for a couple of minutes before a train attendant tells us to go to our seats. I get up first and offer a helping hand to Hyde, who grabs it and jumps up.
"So...?" Hyde says quizzically, "why did you space out just before on the platform?"
We had already sat down when he asked the question and I opted to stare out the window instead of replying. We stayed like this before I eventually gave in.
"I saw this girl...she was standing on the platform and when I saw her I just...I just froze. My thoughts just vanished and I forgot how to breath." I say wistfully, my mind going back to that moment.
"So you saw a pretty girl?" Hyde says with a long bout of laughter, tears coming to his eyes, "I can't believe it. For awhile now I thought you weren't even interested in the opposite sex."
My face flushed red as Hyde bursts into a new fit of laughter. After his laughter and my embarrassment subsided, we started talking about class.
A 10minute train ride later, we were off the train and running. My thoughts did occasionally drift back to the mysterious girl but Hyde kept forcing me to hurry. Reaching our first class, we shove open the door, stumbling into a silent room. Tripping, I bump into Hyde and we land on our faces, laughter braking throughout the room.
Laughing, we stand up slowly before a cough brings our attention to a stocky man who I presumed was our professor.
"Hello sir, how ya doing?" Hyde says smoothly as the other students snigger quietly.
"I'm doing quite fine today, more so then you two are going to be." The professor replies back just as smoothly, sending the class into laughter.
"Well that's great sir, well Jayke and I are just gonna take our seats and you can continue on with whatever you were doing." Hyde says cheerfully while pushing me toward some empty seats.
"Of course boys, take your seats and after class we can have a nice long chat." He says with smug superiority, making me and Hyde share a grimace.
"Now continuing what I was saying before we were rudely interrupted by two hooligans," he says while glaring at us, "we have a transfer student from Eurotio. This is her first time in Ausrilica so I want you guys to look after her."
As he finished his introduction of the transfer student, someone steps out from behind him. The class erupted into excited chatter, making me look up, only to freeze. Standing there, just beside the professor was the girl from the platform.
