Valentina POV
"Para la el amor de dios! Nosotros necesitar el dinero! (For the love of God! We need more money!)" My father, Jose shouted at my mother viciously as he threw his hands in the air. My mother was very upset with my father because of his ways. She never tolerated his behavior and his ways of making money.
"You just don't understand Jose. I will not continue to go through this much longer! Our daughter doesn't need to be around this type of environment!" My mother shouted back and from the sounds of it, I could tell she was ready to break down any minute. I hated seeing my parents fight but at least PaPa made sure we had everything we wanted so we wouldn't have to struggle anymore.
"I wish you guys would stop fighting each other. At the end of the day PaPa is doing the best he can." I said calmly hoping to lighten the mood as I defended my father. From the looks on my mother's face, she was disappointed and disgusted with me.
"Tu destruir mi la hija ya! (You destroyed my daughter already!)" She yelled before grabbing her coat continuing to storm out the house. My father turned and looked at me before holding his head down low. I could tell he was upset with my mother's words and that it really got to him.
I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around his big strong frame, hugging him as tight as I could.
"I love you PaPa." I said softly, burying my face into his chest listening to his heart beat. He began to rub my head slowly and softly, stroking my long black hair as we sat in silence for awhile.
"Valentina you are my daughter and I love you no matter what. I am a bad man but my heart is pure." He told me as he kissed my forehead. "Get some rest for escuela tomorrow." Loosening the grip I had on my father, I did as I was told and went into my room staring at my ceiling.
First day of hell tomorrow. I thought to myself letting out a huge sigh. My parents never stayed anywhere long enough for me to make friends since I was nine years old. Here I am, nineteen years old and finally making it to my last year of high school.

"Buenos dias PaPa, MaMa." I greeted my parents before planting kisses onto their cheeks. My mother still looked a little bummed but trying to keep her spirits up as she prepared breakfast for my father and I.
"I will drive you to school before I go to work this morning Tina." My father told me as we sat down at the table. We held hands and bowed our heads before saying grace."I could've caught the bus, you know?" I raised my eyebrow at him before chopping down on my pancakes.
"No daughter of mine rides any bus. You do us proud, you come with me and pick out any car you want." He smiled at me as he ate his food. I smiled back as I thanked him and as always, reminding me that I am his princess.
We finally arrived at the school around 6:50am, giving me about ten minutes until I go to hell. I rolled my eyes and sighed as I grabbed my bookbag from between my legs. "What's the matter Tina?" My father asked me as he looked me in my eyes. "What's the point of this PaPa? I haven't had any real friends since I was nine. I'm a nineteen year old immigrant with no social life!" I snapped but quickly put my head down, in shame. My father despised of that word.
"You're here to be somebody my darling. Don't worry about friends." He reached over and kissed my forehead, to my surprise he didn't get angry and flip out on me. I figured it was because of the fight, him and my mother had last night.
Walking through the doors of my school made me want my day to end even faster. I knew everybody had their clique established and being though it's my senior year, I figured it was probably a little too late to try to find some friends.
I looked at the signs on the wall until I could finally find the guidance counselors office. I sat down in one of the chairs and to the left of me was some boy. I couldn't see his face and he seemed to be a gangster with his all black timberlands and baggy jeans."How long does this take?" I decided to start a conversation looking at my phone realizing it was now, 7:20am. To my surprise the stranger actually spoke back.
"It's hectic the first couple days of school here." His voice was deep and cold. I crossed my legs and sat back in my chair deciding not to engage in anymore conversation."I never seen you before. What's your name?" He turned towards me asking. His hoodie was so big on his head that I couldn't even see his face. Only features that were exposed was his big lips and facial hair that hugged around his mouth.
"It's Valentina. You?" I raised my eyebrow, turned off at the fact that I couldn't even see his face.
"Call me Dex." He said firmly, appearing to be grinning.
"What you grinning for? I can't even see your face if I wanted too." I rolled my eyes folding my arms over my chest.
He chuckled a bit. "All you had to do was ask." He pulled his hoodie off his head and brushed his hand against his waves. I didn't expect him to be so handsome. He had brownskin complexion with these light brown hazel-ish eyes. Not to mention the curly waves that held his head and the goatee that hugged his mouth. His smile was even beautiful regardless of the baby gap he had between his front pearly white teeth.
"What was you hiding for anyway? I don't bite." I shot at him before smiling.
"I'm always hiding." He grinned.
"Valentina Vasquez." A lady called my name interrupting our conversation. I rolled my eyes in irritation and stood up.
"Well, nice meeting you Hideout." I joked. He stood in front of me and he was taller than I thought. I stood to be about 5'6 and Dex appeared to be almost 6'5.
He extended his hand and I shook it firmly. "This won't be the last time we talk Ms.Valentina." I hope it won't. I thought to myself before leaving to go meet with my counselor.
