It is the final hour before their 'real' date and Taylor is terrified. She already knew that whatever went on Karlie was surely reporting back to her superiors, it was the uncertainty on her end that made her sick to her stomach.

If anyone else in the cartel found out about her flirting with danger, it would be seen as the ultimate betrayal. Don Vito definitely would not take kindly to her taking out a narc on a date and putting the business at risk.

Then again, Taylor wasn't too keen on continuing ties with this particular partner anymore. But she still needed a way out that kept her from the government's and Borgia's clutches.

As her black SUV slowed to a stop beside the curb that housed their venue for tonight, she alighted the vehicle and leant up against a sidewalk lamppost. She glances at the watch on her wrist and breathes a sigh upon seeing she was 15 minutes earlier than expected. The pair had settled on 7:00 pm as their meeting time, with Taylor texting Karlie about the place and its address.

It was one of her favorites in the city; the reservation-only establishment was tucked away on the rooftop of an apartment building in Chelsea. Apart from being home to the best Italian food among the 5 boroughs, Taylor kept coming back thanks to the quiet and out of the ordinary ambiance it held.

The trellis that lined the dining area was covered in a thick growth of vines, easily blocking out unwanted sound from below and the fairy lights that hung above the enclosed space only accentuated the gorgeous view it held.

Taylor leant against the side of the rooftop when a warm presence plops down next to her. "Hey there, stranger. You're early!"

"Uh, ditto, Taylor! You're that excited, huh?" the brunette jokes, playfully shoving Taylor's arm.

"How do you like this place?"

"It's gorgeous! How did you come across this?"

"Ah well, perks of the job."

"Geez how do I cash in on that bar business?"

By dealing with a cartel on the side. "If you stick around with me long enough, you might just find out," Taylor answers with a wink. She extends her hand to the brunette, leading them towards their table.

The evening was going on well enough; easy flowing conversation and good food, both of them with that slight buzz from the wine. One call had to ruin it all. As soon as Taylor saw the name on the screen, she jumped up and excused herself to take it, walking as far away from Karlie's earshot as possible.

"What do you want, Di?"

A light, breathy laugh escapes from the phone. "Nice to hear from you too, Tay. I take it you didn't miss me? Not even a little bit?"

"I don't have time for this right now. What is it?" Taylor breathes. "I just wired in his cut of the week's revenue and tax into the account over an hour ago."

"It's not that. Don Vito is calling for a meeting, 3AM tonight in the East Village."

"W-what for?" The blue-eyed girl questions in a shaky voice. Tonight of all nights! Jesus fuck. "I'm in the middle of...brokering a deal right now."
