It had taken you a while to get through the puzzles in the ruins. Most were easy enough as you knew them from memory but one wrong move could end in your demise.

You figured out that the hard way.

Once you reached the agonizingly long room which Toriel had tested your independence in, you heard soft footsteps out of sync of your own.

"Flowey?" You questioned. "Is that you?"

"H-Huh?" Flowey popped out of the ground in front of you. "What do you.....Mean..." His speech seemed to falter as he stared at something above and behind you, a terrified look plastered on his face.

"H....uh." You turned to where his gaze landed, and immediately you could feel sweat start to build up on your brow.

Before you stood a tall, goat monster with yellow stained, thickly bagged eyes and a long flowing black robe with what appeared to be some sort of crest on it.

"Oooh! A human child! What a surprise!" The raspy, disfigured Toriel said, making you recoil a little.

"It's amazing you've made it this far without dying!" She excitedly exclaimed, clasping both hands together as if entertained.

You could see Flowey attempting escape from the corner of your eye, but you knew Toriel was already a step ahead of him as she diverted her harsh gaze his way.

"Where do you think YOU'RE going, WEED?" She questioned, striding over to Flowey and picking him up.

"N...n...Nowhere, T-T-Toriel!" He shouted, trying to hide himself from her threatening glare.

"Good." She spat, throwing him back onto the ground with a painful thud. She turned back to you, her gaze softening a little.

"Human child, I will need to run some errands. If you wish to find safety, meet me at my house at the end of the ruins." She said, her excitement seeming to grow. "Oh, and leave that weed outside." She added bitterly, turning to exit the room.

"What happened to her?" You ask, walking over to Flowey cautiously.

"S...She went insane after she left her h-husband.." He answered. "She just...snapped." He added. "Started eating any humans that fell down, and g-gave their souls to....*gulp* Asgore."

You winced. You felt a pang of sorrow in your stomach. Sure she was insane and wanted to eat you, but somewhere deep inside you knew that there was once the loving and caring mother that you had grown to love so much.

Once you mustered up enough courage to exit the room, you began making your way to Toriel's house.

It's not far now. You tell yourself.

Further than you think (Y/N). Chara states. Look, there's Napstablook. They point a finger in front of you at a black and red ghost laying on a bed of blood red roses.

You reluctantly decide to move him with force.

"JUST WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?"

You felt the familiar tug of your soul exiting your body, though it was much harsher than you had anticipated.

The attacks rained down harder and faster than you expected also. You felt your soul get impaled by one of the spirals and winced. Flowey shot a friendliness pellet your way and you rushed to it. You felt a bit better and your HP was increased.

"H...Hey Napstablook. What are you doing here all alone?" You ask, trying to scrape a conversation.

"Well, I WAS resting until YOU came along and ruined it!" He spat, sending faster spiral tears your way.

You dodge them gracefully this time.

"Y...You don't have to be lonely anymore.. W-We can be friends..?" You suggest, holding your arms out to the ghost.

"I....I'm not lonely. I.. I don't need friends!" He shouted, his expression faltering.

It's working. You think. I just have to hold out.

You yelp as Napstablook attacks you again with yet more intensity. You barely survive this time, your HP at 4. Flowey shoots a few friendliness pellets your way, but you only replenish 2 HP from them.

"Please Napstablook.." You plead, feeling tears well up in your eyes.

Napstablook growls, sending another attack at you. You barely dodge any of them, leaving you barely alive at 1HP.

"Napstablook.. I won't fight you." You sigh. You can feel Chara's burning rage and Flowey's dissaproval as you press the button.

MERCY

"..." Napstablook stares at you, but doesn't attack.

MERCY

"Pathetic.." He says. "You know what? Have your mercy!" He grunts, turning away. "You're not worth my time." He states, before you feel your soul returning back, indicating the end of the battle.
