Jerome led his mother over to the door, grabbed his backpack from the chair, and the keys that hung above the stove. "Let's go mom." His mother strolled behind, wiping her tears and collecting herself. "I'm sorry you had to see me like that J, sometimes I can't control myself." She said with a cough. "Well mom, I can't exactly be mad at you for reacting the way you did, it's instinct. You have nothing to be sorry about." Jerome said, obviously agitated.
"You seem angry J, are you alright?" His mother asked grabbing Jerome's hand.
"Now that you mention it mom, no. I'm not fucking okay, I witness every fucking day of my life my only parents scream at each other, that's all you two do! He comes home drunk, because you give him so many fucking chances. He has literally fucking cheated on you at least 10 times, and you do the same god damn each time, you forgive him!! You forgive that pathetic bastard, I witness every day of my miserable life, my parents splitting apart quicker and quicker as the days slip by. I've had to take you out of the house numerous times this month already, and each and every single time it's the same god damn thing mom, it's the same thing.." Jerome raised his voice, closing his eyes and sighing. "You know I love you mom, with all my heart, and I wouldn't want anything more than to keep you safe, but you're making it really hard for not only me, but yourself too, by giving him so many chances." Jerome said in a soft tone. His mother leaned her head down, obviously disappointed in herself. "I know-I know I shouldn't have given him anymore chances, I know what he's going to do, it's just I know there's good in him, when he's not drunk. Sometimes I wonder if that's really the man I married, or someone I could blow some time off with." His mother said. "Well you need to figure it out, and you need to figure it out soon, because I'm not going to stand for this much longer." Jerome brushed the dust from the glovebox.
"You're right, I'm going to march in there and tell your father how I feel!" His mother exclaimed. "Yeah, my father." Jerome mumbled under his breath.
