That afternoon finds me picking up Hotshot's dry-cleaning ten blocks away. I don't drive and I don't want to use the car they provide because I feel like it costs more money, so I set off on foot.

So far this job sucks. He orders me around like some servant, almost like payback for being so mean to him. He even had to get my number so he could call me after his latest conquest to get him some water. I could strangle him, but I can't. Not if I want my family on the street. We can't go back home because the ticket says we go back at the end of summer and changing the flight is expensive.

My phone rings, snapping me out of my reverie. The name 'Hotshot' lights up the screen and I roll my eyes.

"To what do I owe the pleasure?" I ask sweetly stepping into an alley.

"Is that sarcasm I detect? You know I could withdraw my check..."

"No! Sorry. This is Zyliena, how may I help you, Hotshot?"

"Have you picked up my dry-cleaning?"

"No, I'm halfway there."

"You left twenty minutes ago! You should already be here!"

"One, I walked so that takes time, and two, driving would take even longer with the traffic. So I'm sorry if I run just a little bit late."

"Why don't you take the provided car? They take the shorter routes. And it's not as if you know where to go."

"Offense taken. I studied a map before I left and I was using the gps, but now I'm talking to you."

"Then where are you now? Not walking, I hope."

"Of course not, I'm not stupid."

"I beg to differ."

With a growl, I end the call. Seconds later, my phone rings again.

"What?" I snap into the phone without looking at the caller ID.

"Whoa, I just wanted to see how you were doing. We haven't talked in a while."

"Oh, hey, Winnakly!"

"What's gotten you in a terrible mood today?"

"I'll tell you later. In fact, why don't we meet up somewhere? I feel like I haven't seen you in ages."

"That was actually why I was calling! Let's meet at The Freezer tomorrow at one."

"Great. See you then."

"Bye."

I set off into the sea of people trying to get around Grantire to get Hotshot's clothes.

...

Knocking on his door, I wait patiently. After a couple minutes, I roll my eyes and start to walk away but the door opens. Hotshot is standing there, shirtless and his hair is messed up, like someone ran their hands through it multiple times.

Ew! Gross!

My brain finally processes why it took so long and I involuntarily take a step back. His eyes flicker with something but it disappears.

"Yes?" He smirks.

"Here."

I thrust the clothes at him and he takes it.
