A Bitter Pill

Listen up, I've finally found something to say
Like a story, allegory, or scenes in a play
A simple little swirl
Like boy meets girl
Girl gives up her heart again
Then boy becomes her world
But to him it didn't coddle
Didn't set his love full throttle
Found some venom in his words at the bottom of a bottle
It's a shame
This game
One he won't admit to claim
Gets his fortune and his fame
Bu dropping her good name
Then it's all apologies
Like bitter pills, just swallow these
Then forgive me, please
And come back to me
Medicinal analogies
She needs time, she needs space
She needs a clear mind to set things straight
A quiet mind, an empty slate
A lonely place to annihilate
This constant fear she's holding near
He brought it here
I'm sorry, dear
She needs some time to be alone
But all he does is call her phone
She's not ready to talk
She just wants to scream
She needs some time off
She needs to blow off steam
As broken flesh that can't heal
He rips apart so he can feel
He points his fingers
He calls her a liar
A man with a burning tongue
Setting her on fire
She climbs from her ashes, finally awake
His words meant to shake
She's just a mistake
The tears start again
They gather, like sand
As she promises, again
No more pain, the end
