The year is 1977. The windy breeze gently blew through Janice's short blond locks. Dr. Teeth smiled as he eyed her up and down. She was really beautiful, and not beautiful in the way those those rock magazines portrayed it. She was far from those crazy ideals, and had her own sense of beauty. A flower in her strands of fine hair, all tousled from the waves in the ocean. Tan orangey, sun-kissed skin. Huge pouted lips and a cutesy, stick-thin body. Her navy blue string bikini top cupped her tiny bosom in place, keeping them from slipping or being freed, but they still bounced as she frolicked across the sand and the tide. Water splashed her calves when she ran away from Teeth when he chased her down the beach.
"Man, how'd I get fortunate enough to nab the heart of a babydoll like Jan?" He thought to himself, watching her contently. The Good Ol' Doctor felt the pressure to have the most perfect body by the media, being that they were Rock and Roll icons. Ever since he was little, he struggled with weight and felt women never truly liked him. He was for a fact a heftier guy, but Janice had made him forgot that when they got close. She made him feel like the sexiest and most important guy on earth. Her loving and comforting presence made him feel more confident in his skin. Her soothing nature toward people and the way people felt around her is what made him fall head over heels. She helped him embrace who he is. She saw him not for how he looked, but for who he was.
Janice's sad sighing interrupted his thoughts; he looked over to see her staring at the sunset that had just begun. Dr. Teeth took notice of her body language... her hands were clenched into tight fists and he noticed her lips tremble slightly.
"Hey sweetheart, you doin' okay?"
Janice turned to look at him and forced herself to purse a smile across her lips to try and reassure him, not saying anything. Teeth got up to go stand next to her in front of the tide. He wrapped a long arm around her shoulder, pulling her closer as she choked back a sob.
"Woah woah, what's botherin' you, Jan? Tell your baby what you've got on yer mind." Dr. Teeth said softly, pulling her head close to his body, caressing her soft cheek.
"Oh like, I just-Yknow... stuff...h-home." Janice managed to let out. She had recently ran away from home after her family disowned her for joining the band.
"Are they tryin' to get into contact with ya again? They're not threatenin' you, are they?"
"N-No, I just wish they accepted me... I miss them so much and the thought of them not wanting me is hurting..." Janice felt herself start to cry her eyes out, homesick.
As he held her, she buried her face in his chest. He tilted her chin up and kissed the top of her head to comfort her. Teeth dug his feet into the sand to stable himself as she was leaning into him, and started to rock her back and forth to soothe her... shushing her, rubbing her back and hair."I know how ya feel, doll... It's hard, I left home at the age of fourteen after I found out that my family had all gotten caught in a house fire. In fact, sometimes it feels like they could be looking for me... but they're not. But y'know what keeps me going?"
"What?'" Janice asked, turning her head to the side and still resting against him. Her toes overlapped his and pebbles finding their way to the spaces between her toes.
"You and the guys do," He paused, smiling fondly. "You walked with me, and helped me understand where I'm goin' when I've felt alone. Janice, I promise you I'm always gonna be here for ya too. When your heart is filled with sorrow and despair, you can always come t'me, alright? I'll carry you through when you need me." Dr. Teeth mumbled softly, cradling her face between his hands.
"You really would do that for sure? Always?" Janice murmured back, her hand placed over one of his hands on her cheeks.
"Forever and ever, baby!" Teeth declared as they hugged. Janice felt their souls embrace and intertwine at the same time. As they pulled away, they backed up seeing their footprints facing each other in front of the water.
Janice pointed. "Doc, look!"
"Well ain't that somethin'!"
Janice got out her little box camera to snap a picture of it. "Totally something for our memory box," she thought to herself. Teeth smiled; he loved how artsy she was and her connection with the earth.
"Hey uh, Jan?"
"Hmm?"
Teeth turned to dig around in his beach bag and took out a seashell necklace, and wrapping it around her neck.
"Oh wow, like, you made this? For me?" Janice admired the necklace.
"Yeah... this is my promise t'you that no matter what happens between us, we will always remain as good friends and still love each other unconditionally." He grinned widely.
"Fer shure!" She nodded, embracing him once more to thank him for this wonderful gift as they shared a soft kiss.
"Hey, why don't we take a picture on your camera to remind us?" Teeth said as he pulled away for a bit.
"Wow, like, what a great idea!" Janice chimed as she turned it around, the pair smiling into the camera lens. Teeth held her close, their cheeks pressed together. Janice pressed the button, holding the camera as high as possible to get her seashell necklace into the frame.
