*Zane’s POV*

*Tsubaski: HaHa! Bet you weren’t expecting him!*

I looked down at the two young mief’wa brunettes. My bad eye distorting the image. My hair was pulled back behind my ear for my own reasons and my mask hung out of a pocket on my chest.

The girl looked up at me with her bright purple eyes, ”Zane!?” She gasped. I blinked.

“H-How?” I stuttered. Mighty uncharacteristically of me. I peered down at the woman.

“Oh excuse me, I’m Sally! I lived in Okhasis and my mother showed me a picture of you before you disappeared. You haven't aged a bit!” She stood shakily, brushing off her dress and straightening her tail. She held out a hand for her companion and he took it. She pulled him up, “And this is my brother Evan.”

“H-Hiya,” Evan scuffed his shoes shyly.

“Nice to meet you,” I smiled grimly. Lord Leven had hurried up and stepped towards the siblings.

“Hello, I’m the Lord, Levin. What happened? You look like you’ve been from the nether and back!” He checked to pair up and down. It was humorous, a Lord of under twenty, taking care of a pair that looked twenty two and twenty five.

“We were leaving Okhasis and on our way from BrightPort, a group of bandits ambushed me, Sal and our parents. Our parents died ensuring our escape,” Evan sniffed and I caught sight of a tear rolling down his cheek. Sally also trembled at the thought and hugged her brother to her.

My brother in law walked up with my brother holding hands. Sally looked at the two and blinked. I guess gay relationships were rare here.

“Hello Zane, what’s going on Dante?” MS Laurance smiled at the two newcomers.

“Hi bro,” I replied quickly so Dante could explain. Dante laughed.

“Well, this is Sally and Evan,” he explained, “They are siblings from Okhasis. They and their parents had left and been ambushed by bandits. Their parents didn’t make it.”

MS Laurance looked at the pair with pained eyes, “I’m so sorry!” He stepped forward and extended his free hand, “I’m Laurance Ro’meave. This is my husband Garroth Ro’meave.”

“Nice to meet you Laurance,” Evan shook his hand. Sally also shook his hand. She looked a little uneasy but I dismissed as Tsubaski suddenly was on my shoulders. I stumbled about, trying to gain balance.

“Hi there! I’m Tsubaski! Zane I swear to Irene, gain your balance!” She growled at me. He bushy tail whipped into my face and I spit it out.

“Sorry!” I groaned and grounded my feet in one place and used my sword to steady myself.

Evan's tail  busheled and I could almost hear a hiss. I blinked and laughed. Tsubaksi recoiled and joined me in laughter.

“Don’t worry! I won’t hurt you kitty! I’m just a wolf hybrid!” Tsubaski wheezed. I felt her body trembling on my shoulders. Even clung to his sister who was a little nervous but much more composed.

“Yes, of course. Sorry Ms. Tsubaski,” She apologised. She patted her brother’s ears and he stepped away blushing.

Levin cleared his throat, “Do you need a place to stay?” Sally glanced at him and nodded shyly.

Evan was a little more bold, suddenly recovered from the wolf attack, “Yeah. We were looking for some family in a village a bit farther from this area. But only our parents really knew where.”

Levin led the two off and I turned to Laurance,  “They make me nervous.”

“So I’m not the only one,” MS Garrote sighed. I smiled. It was a family thing. Me, Garrote, and Vvlyad always seemed to have a good sense of forewarning.

“I dunno. They seemed fine to me,” Dante said. Laurance shrugged, not sure what to believe.

A new person came out from behind a tree. “I don't like it,” Aphmau stated flatly. She had her hair tied up and her fingers played with the hilt of her sword. MCD Laurance and Garroth followed.

“I just don't know what to think. Especially with how we are going to get away with having doubles,” MCD Garroth laughed. Tsubaski jumped off my shoulders and landed in a tree.

“Yeah, if they are going to stay, than we’re in trouble,” She said.

“I don't know about you guys,” I said to lighten the mood, “But I'm getting hungry!”

Aphmau’s face brightened up, “Yeah! Donna said she was making something for everyone in the village! A huge community picnic!”

*MS Garroth’s POV*

*2 hours later*

I

walked down the streets of Phoenix Drop. Laurance was still at the picnic. I had stepped away for some fresh air. The breeze blew through my blonde hair and caused my jacket to swirl around my body. The sun was setting and the sky was blessed with bright colors. I fiddled with the silver band around my finger. Laurance and I had been married for a little over a day and it wasn’t quite what I thought it would be like. I thought it would be more like when he and I had started dating. New thrills, a whole different prospect of life. Actually all that was different was that it was settled. It was official. Sort of a resting feeling.

I wondered when we were going to get home. We had been here a few days. I hadn't seen Aaron much and Zone was fitting in here wonderfully. What if we never got out!? I shuddered at the cool realization that we might never escape. I would never see my little brother again! Or my mother, or anybody! A shiver went up my spine as I realised I wasn't alone.

“Peekaboo!”  I coughed and blood flowed down my lip. Pain blossomed from my back. I stumbled forward, falling into my hands and knees. That voice… I turned to see Sally behind me with a bloody knife. It was her’ but long, raven black hair fell around her waist.

“S-Sasha…” I breathed. She grinned maniacally and raised the knife. I had been right. My eyes faded in and out. Sasha said something I couldn't quite catch. I glanced to the woods at my right. My eyes widened as they met white light.

“Not… Again.”
