I explained everything as I sat in the infirmary, being stitched and bandaged up. Turns out the first demon had done more damage than I thought. Beatrice nodded thoughtfully. "So let me get this straight. A demon you've known since you were seven is responsible for giving you your mechanical arm, killing your family, and basically leaving you an orphan and now you got revenge but still endangered the life of a student?" She asked. I sighed and nodded. "Is she gonna be okay?" I asked. Dante nodded but Beatrice shook her head. "She's gonna be emotionally scarred. A demon attack is enough to fuck up anyone."
"Beatrice!" Dante scolded. She laughed as Dante kept scolding her about watching her tongue around the young ones. I stood up. "I'll be going to check up on her now." I said. "No way. You gotta get that arm checked out." Dante said. I glared at him. "It's fine. I'll fix it at home." I snarled. He looked at me and grinned. "Well, before you leave. Take this." He said as he handed me a piece of paper. I unfurled the paper and saw the words "welcome to the Seven Knights Agency!" Written on it.
I looked up in surprise. "Wait, I'm in?" I asked. They nodded. "You put a civilian life in front of yours, took out several demons even while injured, and you managed to wield heavenly power without dying! Sure, it was a short time limit but you wielded it anyways!" Dante exclaimed. "You're already a hero, kid." Beatrice said. I smiled. "Thank you so much! Now I have to go check up on Alice." I said. I ran from the room I was in, looking in through several of the infirmary windows, looking for Alice.
"Alex!" Said a voice. I turned around and saw Alice sitting in an infirmary bed. She waved and I sighed in relief. "You're okay right? No broken, sprained, or melted bones?" I asked. Alice laughed and shook her head. "You look so funny when you're worried. You're always so serious." She told me. I rubbed the back of my neck. "Sorry about that..." I muttered. She scooted over and patted the part of the bed next to her. "Sit down with me. I gotta ask you stuff." She chirped. Oh shit, I thought. She wants to know what I meant by "My Alice" doesn't she? I kept thinking.
I sat down next to her, my mind racing and my heart beating like a jackhammer. "So, first question, are you okay?" She asked. The question took me completely off guard. "Uh, yeah." I said. She laughed. "That's not what the bandages and stitches say!" She exclaimed. I laughed, then winced as I remembered that I had several broken ribs. Adrenaline really does distract you from pain. "You should go back to your room." Alice chimed. I shook my head. "You have questions to ask me. So ask away." I said. She sighed.
"What did you mean by 'My Alice'?" She said after a couple of minutes of silence. The floor was suddenly very interesting. "Alex, what did you mean by that?" She asked me again, her face very serious. "I just said it okay?" I replied. "What about the kiss you gave me?" She asked. I blushed slightly as I fiddled with my fingers. "Alex? Do you..." She trailed off as I nodded slightly. She sighed. "Alex, I don't like you like that. You know this. I'm sorry Alex, but we're better off as friends." She said softly. I sighed and stood up. "I know. I also got into the Agency." I said. "Congrats."
"Thanks." I muttered. I walked off back to the gym, my sadness swirling in my mind. Twelve more students to be tested before I left.
