"let's go for a drive."
luke had tossed the car keys over the couch to the spot where you were sitting, looking at you hopefully. "the meteor shower is tonight." you smiled softly and grab the keys to toss back to him, telling him how you'll only go if he's behind the wheel. he grabs your hand and practically pulls you out the door, racing to the car, giggling in anticipation as he's pulling out of your driveway all while the sun is setting. "it's supposed to start around 9." you say, looking up the news on your phone, realizing the 'scientific phenomenon' that you and luke have been anticipating for a week wasn't far away. the sky finally paints its dark blue coat over the peach sunset as you drive in to the next town, after you've discussed all the secrets of the universe and other questions. as you're about to bring up another space topic, he grabs your hand and pulls over, rolling his window down in the parking lot of a corner store. "it's starting." he points at the sky with his free hand, a smile making way on to his lips. you unlock the car and lift yourself on to the hood, him following soon after. he's looking at the shooting stars intensely, a child-like wonder shining in his blue eyes. the moonlight dusted across his cheeks, illuminating all of his features and when he asks you what youre staring at you cant help but ask if he's made from a fallen star too as he blushes and smiles widely, using his right arm to pull you closer as you watch the rest of the stars fly together.
