Chapter 1 : On my way

"Hey kiddo, are you ready to leave? Dad and your brother are waiting in the car." mom said.

As I was done packing the last box of the things I needed for my junior year in a new school, mom had already reserved a room where I could stay. She said I have a roommate. I do hope she's kind. I got my bag and phone from the chair and said goodbye to my old room.

"Mom, I'm finished packing."

"Come down here. There's someone waiting for you."

"Okay, I'll be down in a minute."

I got the last box, which was packed with little things and pictures that are full of beautiful memories. I took a last look at my bedroom and closed the door.

As I reached the end of the stairs, I almost tripped on the last step. I would've smashed my face had it been for a pair of hands that helped me regain my balance again and took the box from me.

"You almost had your beautiful face ruined if it hadn't for me." Shaun smirked.

"Thanks again, but won't you miss me? I am your best friend, after all."

"Yes, I will. That's for sure. Make sure to always update me about your life at the new school, and if you need anything, call me and I'll drive there as fast as I can," he said as we walked out to put the boxes in the car.

He put his arm around my shoulder as we walked back inside the house again.

"Thanks again, you're really the best." For that I hugged him.

Then I walked to my mother and hugged her. She kissed my cheek.

"You be good there and keep your grades up. Don't do anything stupid. I love you. I'll call to check up on you, okay?"

"Okay mom, I love you too, and take care of yourself too." I let a tear fall down my cheek and she wiped it away.

"Come on and get in the car so you'll arrive there before noon. It's already 10 in the morning and it's an hour's drive."

"Bye mom, see you soon."

She stood by the door while Shaun accompanied me to my dad's car. I stopped outside the car and faced him.

"Thanks for everything you've done for me, see you soon. You're still gonna visit me tomorrow, right?" I said while hugging him.

"Absolutely, I'll see you, text me when you get there."

He released me and I hopped into the car and waved them goodbye. We drove away from my home sweet home.
