Chapter 6
Dropping to my knees to pick up the books someone hands me my drawing pad . When I look up I see a guy talking . I can't understand what he's saying . He's talking to fast and I'm having a hard time reading his lips.
Lisa: wait wait wait .... slow down . ( I was older when I lost my hearing so I can still speak but I try to sign as much as possible ) the guy looks at me with a confused look on his face
Lisa: sorry I'm mostly deaf ( I sign and say to him )
Please talk slower
When I asked that he looked confused for a moment but then smiled at me.
Guy: what's your name?
Lisa: I'm Lisa ! What's yours .
Guy: my name is Jake .... can I walk you to class
Lisa : yes ( on the inside I'm screaming ... on the outside I know I'm smiling like an idiot )
walking me down the hall while I lead the way we stopped at my locker . As I pulled out my needed bookstore the school day Jake takes them from my arms and walks me into class .
