Alexander's POV:

"Where is she?!" I yelled as I walked into the campsite. Everybody turned to look at me, and people walked out of their tents.

"WHERE IS SHE?!" I screamed when they all looked at me like I was a moron.

"What's wrong? Where is who?" Linda came running beside me.

"Valeri." I said through gritted teeth.

"Where was she?" Linda asked confused. I looked to the ground sheepishly. Nobody used the waterfall for a shower, they used it for fresh water. I knew her soap would rinse down, and the water would be clean again.

"Taking a shower." I mumbled.

"What do you mean?" Linda titled her head.

"I mean I took her to the waterfall, and she bathed!" I said, frustrated. Valeri was missing and these people are playing twenty freakin' questions?!

"Why, Alexander?" She sounded tired.

"Because she wanted to be clean! Now let's go find her!" I said, and walked back into the woods, hoping somebody would follow me. I ignored the judgmental thoughts and kept walking.

Valeri's POV:

I couldn't move. I couldn't see. I couldn't breath. I couldn't hear. I couldn't speak. I couldn't even cry.

I felt, though. I felt them moving around me. I was leaned against an extremely cold metal wall and it was becoming painful. I could faintly hear footsteps, unless that was my imagination.

"Valeri." I thought I heard somebody whisper. I rolled my head a little, regaining some of my strength.

"Valeri." They whispered again, this time touching my shoulder a bit.

"Valeri?" She asked, full volume now. I blinked my eyes, and realized I was blindfolded. I turned my head in the direction of the noise.

"Mom?" I sobbed.

"Shhh, sh." She whispered. I smiled, and another silent sob shook my body. She ran her hand with busted knuckles over my face, and kissed my forehead.

"You found me." She whispered. Her face had many black smudges over it, and her eyes seemed clouded.

"She's awake!" Somebody called. I felt myself be drowned in fear when footsteps drew closer.

"Hello, beautiful." Somebody breathed in my ear. I wanted to vomit when I realized who it was.

"Phil?" I sobbed.

"Sh sh, don't be loud, I'm protecting you." He hissed. I felt my core relax a bit.

"Okay." I whispered. I felt calloused hands grab my bare arms and lift me off the ground. I demanded my feet to move with my brain as we walked away from my mom.

"I'm questioning her!" Phil yelled. A metal door clang shut, and Phil took my blindfold off.

"Valeri, what've you gotten yourself into?" He asked slowly.

"It's not me!" I squealed.

"Yeah, it is!" He threw his hands up.

"It's your fault." I smirked.

"Valeri." He sighed, sitting down on the concrete floor. I sat beside him, my back pressed against the wall.

"What're you capable of?" I asked, looking at my shoes.

"I can turn invisible." He smirked.

"Cool." I smiled.

"I can make you invisible too." He raised a brow.

"Oh yeah? LIar." I giggled.

"Watch." He smiled, and grabbed my hand. I watched as the color drained from my skin, and I was left with nothing.

"Woah!" I said. He removed his hand, and the color returned to me.

"Cool, huh?" He smiled. I smiled too, nodding.

"Alright, get me out of this place." I frowned.

"I can't." He said, still smiling. I furrowed my brows.

"Huh?" I asked.

"I can't." His smiled faded a bit.

"Why not?" I croaked.

"We will both die if I do." He frowned. I gasped, and searched his face for any signs of joking.

"What?" I gasped.

"Nah, just messing. Let's go!" He jumped to his feet like a professional athlete. I grabbed his outstreched hand to help get me up.

"Nobody's out there, grab your Mama, and we need to go fast." He said, his eyes now frantic. I nodded, and we dashed out the door.

I stood Mom up, and grabbed her hand. Phil grabbed mine, turning us all invisible. We dashed out the door, and didn't look back.

When we got out the hatch, I gasped for air and my Mom struggled with her balance. Phil, still holding my hand, threw my Mother over his shoulder softly, and we ran again.

When we broke through the trees to our campsite, Phil let go of my hand, and sat my Mother down. Nobody was outside, and it was pitch black outside. The dome was gone, and the rain had stopped but the waves were still angry. I untied my Moms hands from behind her back and took off the dirty blindfold.

Her blue eyes shone bright despite the knots in her hair and the dirt on her skin. She smelled strongly, but I didn't care as I wrapped my arms around her and sobbed in her shoulder. Her weak skinny arms rubbed up and down my back soothingly.

"Nice to see you again, Melanie." Alex said from behind me. I wiped my eyes, kissed her cheek, and turned to him.

"Mel, let's go clean you up." Linda smiled warmly. My Mother smiled, and nodded. Her knees were wobbly and her cheeks were sunk in. Her appearance made my heart sink, but I was happy to have her back anyway.

"Valeri, I need to get off this Island." Phil said. Alex glared at him.

"Happily. Hailey!" He yelled. Hailey ran to us, and smiled at Phil.

"Ready to go?" She bounced on her heel. Phil nodded, and looped his arm in hers. I was very confused by the way they all acted like they knew each other. I shrugged it off, and smiled to Alexander.

"Hi." I giggled. He chuckled, and looked at his feet. He kicked a small pebble, and glanced back up at me.

"I have another advantage." I smirked.

"We start in the morning. Go eat, and then sleep." He ordered softly. I nodded, and walked to the food area.

We start fighting tomorrow.

I might die.
