Jesus Christ, where do I even start with this beautiful girl that I call my best friend. Scratch that. I call her my sister from another mister. Hehe.

Shayla is the most amazing girl ever. She's been with me through everything since fifth grade, although we met each other at a track and field day in fourth grade.

In fifth grade, I was the new kid and didn't have many friends. Our teacher, that angel, put us in a group together or something and we were insuperable. Fifth grade went by smoothly and we found out that our parents had been really good friends in high school. History was repeating itself. And we weren't complaining about it.

Sixth grade came and Issy came into the picture. She and Shayla became good friends as well. I wasn't included. Issy wouldn't let me hang out with Shayla at all during school. To be honest, it made me a bit depressed. I was losing my best friend. Of course I made some other friends, but that's a different story. Issy controlled Shayla so much that she was her only friend. She laughed at her and ruined other friendships for MY best friend. Shayla was miserable but she didn't realize how much until later, when she ended it.

As the school year progressed, Shayla and Issy began fighting. Shayla wanted to hang out with me. So she finally just stood up to Issy and they stopped being friends. Obviously, I was ecstatic about this.

Shayla started getting into horses this year. She got her first horse, Belle, and absolutely loved riding her. I really enjoyed watching her do what she does best. She's so good at it. She also got her first ribbon from her saddle club that year. It was third place. She was overjoyed.

We made the transition to seventh grade and got the standard speech about how people who are your friends now probably won't be your friends later in high school. Shayla and I revoked the idea as soon as we heard it. We decided we wouldn't be one of those friendships that end as soon as we get into a fight or whatever.

Seventh grade was the start of an MEA tradition. Our families decided to go to a different haunted house or attraction every year. So far, we have been to a haunted theatre, Duluth, a corn maze, and a haunted hay ride.

By some miracle, we made it through seventh grade into eighth grade. Still best friends. At this point, I had let Krista into our friendship and we called ourselves "boofies", because we snuck onto the roof a lot when I had them over to my house. Boofies means "best friends on roofs" or something like that. We started a YouTube channel that year and made up dances to pop songs. Looking back on it, we looked like freaks. Oh goodness, it was bad. (Flash forward to now, Krista isn't really in our close friendship anymore. We are still friends, just, not that close. She has other friends that she fits with better now.)

Eighth grade was also the year that Shayla and I started the tradition of going Black Friday shopping together. We get matching boots every year. It's so super fun just walking around stores with each other. I doubt this tradition will ever end.

Freshman year started and we didn't post to our YouTube channel, like, at all. Instead, we went back and watched all of our old videos and made the monumental decision to delete the embarrassing account. It was a relief to know that no one would see the videos any more. People from school had already watched some of them. It was bad, and we didn't realize how humiliating it was until this year.

This was first year that we could go to the homecoming dance. It was the week of the dance and we still hadn't gotten our dresses. We weren't even sure that we would go. Then my guy friend asked me and I agreed. Duh. So we had to hurry to get dresses and in the end, we did manage it. The dance was so fun.

It's sophomore year now and we are closer than ever. We have so many inside jokes and we can basically talk through motions and looks. We could call each other ugly if we really wanted and wouldn't feel offended about it. We make fun of each other all the time and I don't know what I would do without her. She's so pretty and nice and just awesome in every way.

Shayla, when you read this, I LOVE YOUUUU! As a friend, not the awkward way. Hahahahaha. You live for the applause, applause, applause. From me, of course. You're so cool and I don't even know how you put up with me weirdness. But hey, you're weird, too. So shush. We will never ever ever stop being best friends and then our kids will be best friends and then their kids will be best friends and then... You get the picture. Anyway, you're trying to read this over my shoulder right now and I won't even let you touch this iPad until I'm done. So... I guess I'll leave our life story at that. Just kidding, it's not our life story. Yet. Ok, now I'm off topic. Byeeee:)
