Caitlin awoke that morning to a draft, groaning miserably as she became painfully aware of the empty space beside her. The familiar satin sheets beneath her palms, icy from the morning air. She tugged the blanket beneath her chin, attempting to trap what was left of the warmth. Barry had been gone a while, that she could tell. As much as she wondered where her other half was, she found herself refusing to leave her bed.

Winter was coming and she'd never been a fan of the cold.

It took several attempts of trying to go back to sleep before Caitlin finally gave up. Throwing the sheets from her body dramatically, a huff passing her lips. Her brown eyes fell towards her window, daylight slipping through the crack in her blinds. It was almost as though her feet were subconsciously carrying her, her eyes narrowing on the tiny ice crystals that were forming on the window. The sight twisting the knot in her stomach. The grass in her front yard shimmered in frost, a beautiful sight despite how cold she might be.

Caitlin's attention was drawn away from the window when she heard a light tap against her bedroom door. An affectionate smile gracing her lips when she found Barry staring lovingly back at her. He wasn't in his suit as she expected, just a fitted flannel shirt and a pair of his usual jeans. But either way, he looked good.

"Aren't you cold?" He asked, coming forward with her dressing gown in hand. A warm feeling glowing inside her as he slipped it over her shoulders.

Caitlin smirked as she teased the brown haired boy. "I'm much colder now that you abandoned me in bed."

"Duty calls, well...Cisco might as well be my alarm clock these days." Barry chuckled softly, knowing the most phone calls he received these days were from the boyish nerd.

Caitlin only smiled, she knew how highly Cisco thought of Barry and their work together at S.T.A.R Labs. Caitlin snaked her arms around herself, the frigid air drifting through the gaps in her dressing gown. The chill raising goosebumps along her skin. Barry noticed the small movement, a small smile twitched at the corner of his lips as he took a step towards his girlfriend. His long arm's enveloping her into a hug, the woman instinctively melting into the warmth.

"I'm jealous of your ability to always be warm." Caitlin sighed, her words muffled into his chest.

She felt Barry's laugh vibrate through his body, the sound like music to her ears. Caitlin had always wished for moments like this, to spend time together on cold mornings where all you want to do is cuddle in bed. But she knew it was never that easy. Barry's phone echoed out a chime, filling the calming silence of the room. Caitlin could feel her boyfriend was irritated by the intrusion too, his body tense for a split second.

"I have to—"

"I know, I'll get ready and meet you at S.T.A.R Labs. I love you." Caitlin interjected, her doe eyes meeting Barry's knowing someone out there needed him right now.

"I love you, don't forget your gloves. You'll freeze out there without them."

Caitlin shook her head with a smile at his words, the rush of wind blowing her hair backwards. It took less than half an hour to slip into something more work appropriate. But it seemed as the minutes past, the room dropped further in fahrenheit. It was unusual and it raised the nerves within Caitlin's body.

As she took a cautious step outside her house, the frost that had once covered her garden was replaced with snow. It was physically impossible and the auburn haired girl knew for certain it wasn't normal - no matter how close to winter it was.

"Well, you took your time." A voice called out, for a moment the woman was rendered baffled. The voice filled the street, yet it was empty. "You'll find it easier to see me if you look up."

The voice was callous, there was no doubt about that. The underlying malicious tone of his voice told Caitlin she was a target once more.

"It wasn't hard to figure out, as long as you have common sense - the fact that a flash of red runs from that lab that you so happen to work at." The man called out, pulling the doctors attention to a heavily built man wearing a face covering his eyes solely focused on her. "Something tells me, the two of you are a little more than co-workers."

A lump formed quickly in her throat. She'd only just healed from her last collision with a meta, she wasn't sure if she could survive another. Her phone was buried beneath the thousands of unnecessary things in her purse, so she knew there was no way of contacting Barry in time.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about." Caitlin yelled out, cringing at the sound of her raised voice. "Who are you? And why the hell are you on my roof?"

The mysterious meta laughed cruelly, "I'm a god. Thanks to that particle accelerator. I guess I have you and your team to thank."

Caitlin still didn't understand what any of this had to do with her, sure, she knew about the particle accelerator. But so did a million other people that were there that night. A gathering of air began forming within his hands, almost like Mark Mardon's had all that time ago. But instead of creating a tornado, the man used it to his advantage bringing himself from the roof to the ground before Caitlin.

"Truthfully, Dr Snow. I've come to have a word with your little friend in red," The man confessed, only a few feet from the anxious woman, he gestured towards her purse. "Go ahead, give him a call. Tell him I'll kill you, if you really have to."

But despite her better judgement, she refused to bring her boyfriend into this. This man clearly had another agenda for the confrontation. He called himself a god for Christ's sake. For all she knew, Barry was no match to this man's power. A part of her longed for her Earth 2 selves powers in this moment, hating the fact she was too weak to fight someone with powers beyond her skill set.

"What do you want?"

The stranger before her sighed in annoyance, rolling his eyes. "I'm assuming this means you won't be sending that flash signal then."

"You guessed right." Caitlin retorted, her fists becoming clenched at her sides. As much as she was afraid of getting injured again, she wasn't some damsel in distress. "If you simply answered my questions, we wouldn't have a problem. I do however have 911 on speed dial if you want to take this to the next step."

"You've got spunk, I like that." The man grinned, but it was a grin that told Caitlin he was about to show her what he could do. Her eyes snapping to the spark of electricity coming from his hands, "I was working on a water pipe when the accelerator hit - that wave of energy...I felt it immediately."

Caitlin remained quiet as she watched his blue eyes ogle his powers. It was clear he wasn't pissed he was hit that night. Who could blame him? Wasn't it everyone's dream to have such abilities?

He raised his right hand, his eyes returning to Caitlin's as he watched him manipulate water from ice, to hail, to a mere ball of liquid. It was as though he was given all of the Mardon brothers powers in one.

"If I really wanted, Caitlin, I could wrap this bubble of water around your head and watch you drown..." He mused, the water weighed heavily in his hand. The man bending it to his will as though he was an avatar. "But I won't."

At that, his powers dissipated.

"I want to talk to the Flash. I'll give you until tonight to inform him of our introductions and until then, we will meet again, Dr Snow."

Like any other meta, she assumed the man would leave using his abilities in some sort of way. But he looked left and right, strolling across the road with his hands in his pockets like nothing out of the ordinary had happened.
