Sofia's POV
Waking up in the middle of the night with my heartbeat faster than it should be, I started breathing very heavily. It was just a nightmare. Nothing more, nothing less. No matter how bad the dream was, I saw him. I was able to touch him again. That was until the car crashed into ours.
"Hey, hey, hey." Lio approached me after literally running to my bed.
"Sofia, what's wrong? Shall I call the nurse?" he asked making me shake my head as no.
"I-I am fine." I rambled and gulped hardly.
"Doesn't seem so." he noted scanning my face carefully.
"It was...a dream." I explained. He nodded and took a seat on the bed next to me.
"A bad one." he added. Was it a bad one? Yeah, it happened all over again, but...Chris was there.
"I..." disable to talk, I stopped after the first word. Lio furrowed his eyebrows and took a shaky breath.
"Maybe this is not the best time to bring this up, but...are you in trouble? I feel like you're hiding something." he mumbled. I was about to explain it, but then it hit me. Who is he to ask about it?
"Mind your own business, Lio." I murmured weakly. After a while of silence, he stood up and walked to his chair. I tried to fall asleep again, but I failed. I fail at everything. Everything.
"Lio." I whispered into the darkness afraid of the monsters that might be hiding in it.
"Yeah?" he responded. Gulping hardly, I thought what I'm about to say all over again.
"Could you hold my hand? At least until I fall asleep?" I mused quietly. I heard his sigh which was followed by steps in my direction.
"You tell me to mind my own business and then you ask this, Sofi? Seriously?" he asked. His voice wasn't filled with anger. It was more of disbelief.
"Please." I murmured. He took a shaky breath and went back to get the chair. Pulling it to my bed, he took a seat on it.
"Are you sure? I don't need to be told off later." he noted. I felt my lips curling into a smile which was to be followed by a soft giggle when I stopped it. I shouldn't laugh.
"Sure." I confirmed. Slowly taking my hand in his, he kept looking at them.
"Go to sleep, Sofi. Rest." he whispered and I closed my eyes. Sorry, Chris, I'm just scared of this place. I'm sorry......
Waking up to the sound of my phone, I grabbed it from the bedside table.
"Marcel?" I mumbled. I was thinking about what the time could be when my gaze fell on my hand. Lionel's still holding it. H-he...was sleeping next to me the whole time?
"Hey, listen, I wanted to stop by at your flat before going to meet my friends, but...you're kinda not here. Sofia, where the hell are you?" he exclaimed.
I sighed and pulled my hand away from Lio's causing him to wake up.
"I...went to the coffee shop? Across the street." I lied remembering its location.
"Sofia, do not lie to me." he muttered angrily.
"Okay, promise me you won't call mom." I warned him.
"What?" he squealed.
"I'm in a hospital. But I'm fine. Totally fine." I explained and noticed Lio standing up. He's probably had enough of me. Honestly, who wouldn't?
"You are in a hospital and you're trying to tell me that you're fine?" he yelled. I touched my head feeling the sudden pain there.
"Drive here. Come here and see it yourself. They'll release me in no time." I noted.
"Okay." he muttered and hung up. Taking a shaky breath, I put the phone away and looked at Lionel who was staring at me.
"Boyfriend?" he mused. I smiled sadly and shook my head as no.
"Brother." I corrected him. He was about to say something when his own phone started ringing. I can't wait to explain why I'm here to him. God, why are you making it so hard?.....
Standing by the window, I kept looking down.
"You can go now, Lio. I...don't wanna interrupt your plans." I mumbled.
"I'll leave when the doctor says you're free to go, Sofia." he posed. I turned around and looked him in the eyes. I didn't want to admit it at first, but...his eyes are similar to Chris' ones. Too similar.
"Sofia!" Marcel stormed into the room. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest.
"See? I'm in one piece." I said. He chuckled and shook his head as no.
"Why do I have this freaking feeling that you take every single chance to get out of this world." he quipped. Lio furrowed his eyebrows and stepped closer to him. He...shouldn't have said this. Not because it hurts me, but because it just magnifies Lionel's curiosness.
"I'm Lionel, hi. She's here because of me." Lio mumbled blankly. Marcel pointed his finger at Lionel and looked at me amusedly.
"You're...in a hospital because of Messi?" he squealed. I rolled my eyes and padded to the bed.
"I hit my head because Lionel scared me. I didn't want to come here, but then I got sick. So I came and the doctor said I have a light concussion. But here I am, in one piece longing to go home." I spoke.
"I...I'll go and find him so that he can check on you." Lio posed and walked out of the room. I watched him leave. It made me feel something. I got...sick. My stomach twisted and...it felt terrible.
"Mind to explain?" Marcel mused making me sigh. I don't feel like speaking. At all......
"So..." I mumbled after the doctor had left the room. Marcel smirked and winked at me.
"I'll wait for you by the snack bar." he said and shook Lio's hand.
"It was a pleasure to meet you. Good luck for the season." he told him and left. I took a shaky breath. I don't know what that smirk was supposed to be...Idiot.
"I'm glad you're fine." Lio spoke. I shrugged my shoulders and smiled lightly.
"I've been through much worse..." I murmured not even realizing what I said.
"I know." he said and I raised my eyebrows.
"What do you know?" I squealed immediately. He sighed and shook his head.
"Uum...could I have your number, Sofi? I'd like to...hear from you after the check-up you'll have." he posed. What does he know?
"I...don't think you need it. Seriously. I am and will be alright." I protested nervously.
"Sofi, please." he demanded. I sighed and reached into my purse.
"Wedding organizer?" Lio read the card with a grin on his face. I rolled my eyes at him.
"Yes, problem?" I snapped. He looked at me and sighed.
"You're quite friendly and then it all disappears at once." he commented making me gulp hardly. He already knows there's something behind this behaviour. He knows too much.
"Sorry." I apologized and zipped my jacket. Looking him into eyes, I shivered. What the hell, Sof?!
"Thank you...for being with me. Really." I said and he smiled gently.
"I bet you'd stay with me too if you were the one to cause me concussion." he quipped. I chuckled. I really made that sound. Lio noticed and grinned immediately. I need to leave. Now.
"Thanks again. Well, b-bye." I rambled and left the room quickly. What was that like? I know...Chris would want me to live as normally as I can, but...I can't laugh at something a random guy says.
I was approaching Marcel who was totally monitoring me.
"No comment, Marcel." I warned him not even slowing down, instead I kept walking.× 4th one, people! How do you like the story so far? 😁
