His fingers were sending jolts of pain through my body. It rocked straight down from the back of my neck to the farthest reaches of my limbs. I couldn't contain the screams at all. It hurt so badly that I wanted to cry, throw up, or do both. My mind wasn't working coherently, the swiftness of the attack had pushed past normal thought to knock me into a wave of chaotic agony. It wasn't until he moved his hand that I was able to think for just a moment.
I had to move.
Staying right there would mean he could hurt me again. I didn't want to end up a screaming mess. I didn't want to hurt Ryker any more than I already had. No. Instead, what I wanted was to help Ryker. I wanted to free him from his pain. To free him from his nightmares. Break the chain that was attaching him to the cruel and sadistic scientist that was right next to me. I needed to do it for him.
Because I was in love with him.
Crusade took over. The instinct that moved me got me out of the scientists reach in mere seconds. He'd been just about ready to grab me once more when my body dissipated into black mist. When I put my body back together, I was facing him up on my feet. The claws on each hand slowly scrapped together as I flexed my hands. Anger bubbled in the back of my throat, creating a sour taste that I swallowed. The scientist watched me, a wry grin on his lips.
"This will be interesting."
"Takye!" Ryker's scream nearly broke me from my planning.
The powerful beat of his wings against the air were like the thrum of a war drum. I crouched down slightly, my gaze narrowing at him. He didn't move, just watched me. My body dropped into mist again. I rushed him, pulling into solid form right next to him and lashing out. My clawed hands ripped the cloth of his suit, but I didn't hit skin. He'd moved backwards faster than I anticipated. Fine... I'll just back him into a corner and shred him!
Crusade moved my body rapidly. I continually dropped from solid form to the misty black form that was the drugs true identity. My nails slashed through the air, cutting through his clothes and occasionally forcing him to use a rod looking device to defend against my attacks as I got too close to him. Unfortunately, I never landed a hit on him and he hardly moved like I wanted him to. Growling to myself, I lunged forward at him again. My anger was making my movements a little too predictable.
The rod turned and connected to my stomach. A sharp cracking sound filled the air and I let out a terrible scream. Dropping to the floor, I clutched my stomach as the electrical current ran through my body. Every muscle contracted on themselves, making it near impossible to move. It was like my entire body had seized up into nothing but a giant knot. I just barely felt the tip of the rod against my shoulder blade a second after I hit the floor.
My scream curdled the air, Ryker's voice was drowned out by mine. At least in my ears it was. I couldn't move, my body refused to obey me. The rod was removed from me and I crumpled on the floor, limbs twitching slightly as lay there panting, a thin trail of saliva down the corner of my mouth from my screams. I trembled, my heart beating hard in my chest. The footsteps of the scientist echoed in my ear that was pressed up against the stone floor.
"How shall I kill him, Ryker? Should I torture him to death? Or should I shoot him like I did with the last man that was with you?"
"Fuck you! I'm going to enjoy squeezing the life out of your body."
"Is that fear I hear in your voice? Ironic. I didn't think that was possible for someone like yourself. After all, we did create you to be nothing but a killing machine. A monster that would prevail human kind. You've no need for such trivial things like this boy."
