My little shopping trip at Target was quite fun but long, spending a hour trying to find the perfect decorations for a dorm. I had decorated it with multi-colored pillows, white sheets, posters, and string lights. After I finally finished, I stack my books on the bookshelf and I settle down on my bed with a bag of Doritos and Dr. Pepper.

I open up my Microsoft Windows laptop and scroll down my emails, searching and looking for any new emails. I find a new email sent from my mom an hour ago. As I sip on my Dr. Pepper, I read her email to myself:

Hello, honey, how is Chicago? I already miss you and I hope you come to visit your mom and the rest of the family down here in Virginia one day. I hope your getting your work done and not going boy-crazy. I miss you, honey.

P.s. don't forget you need to find a job l.

Mom

Boy-crazy? When had I ever been boy-crazy before? I hate the way my mom criticizes every single thing I do. It gets annoying and I get frustrated easy. So as soon as I got my acceptance letter from the University Of Chicago last year, I was literally excited. I wasn't just happy to be going to college, but, to be finally free.

My life was similar to Rapunzel, minus being trapped in a tower and the long hair. I grew up and around a world of rich, privileged, perfectness, and classy. After my dad died from his long battle of lung cancer, my mom knew she had to protect me with all her might.

I sigh and reply back quickly:

I miss you, too Mom and yes, I guess I like it here. How is everything going in Virginia? I will visit soon I promise. Also yes I am getting my work done. I miss you.

P.s. I'll probably call you tomorrow about my second day here tomorrow. I will find a job soon.

Olivia

After I sent the message, I shut down my laptop, slid it under my bed, and curled up in my bed with the sheets and blankets wrapped around me.
Tomorrow is officially my first day here and I'm slightly excited but, I'm dreading it as well.

Since Kate never came back, I locked the dorm room suspecting she has her own key to get in. Was I ready for college? Am I ready for to overcome obstacles and troubles? Will everything be alright?

But, before I could answer silly questions, I quickly fell fast asleep. The next morning, I woke up to find Kate not in her bed. I start to worry if every day will be like this with my roommate Kate. Maybe, it won't.

As I began to sort out my outfit for today and getting my toiletry bag, I'm trying to decide whenever I should go for a sweater or a denim jean jacket.
After I get my clothes picked out, I leave them folded up on my bed and go down the hall to take a quick shower.

While in shower, I begin to wash my hair with my new Cotton candy scent shampoo and conditioner. I slap some shaving cream on my legs and remove the hair that had grown over the couple weeks.

I was my body from head to toe and dry myself off with my towel. Once I get back inside the dorm, a ringing phone instantly startles me and makes me trip on my own feet.

I sit up from my fall on my knees and begin to rub my legs, which were uncontrollably burning and hurting with pain.

With a towel wrapped around my half-dry body and another towel holding my damp hair in place, I grab the cell phone off of Kate's nightstand and quickly answer it.

"Hello?"

"Is this Katherine?"

The person on the other line of the phone call had a distinctive velvet and husky bold British accent. It had an edge to his unique voice that was quite mysterious and ruthless.

"No, your speaking with her roommate, Olivia. How may I help you?"

"You need to tell your Katherine that if she does be late again, I'm going to fire her."

Before I could say anything else, the call between I and Kate's....friend ended very quickly. I huff and sat her phone back down and ran over to my side of the room to get dress into a dark maroon colored cashmere sweater, tight and low boot cut Levi's jeans, and a pair of dark blue Converse.

I grab my schedule and dorm key and then I left to head down to my classes.
Outside on campus, the weather made me feel like I was living in Antarctica. The temperature has dropped and is colder than it was yesterday.

As I walk into the building of the college classes, I immediately I am lost. I wander the halls up and down looking for someone or something to help me find my class. This moment gives me memory of my first day of high school and I cringe.

I spot two guys laughing and chuckling down a hall and I sprint up to them. "Hey, do you guys know where Miss Fare's class is?" I ask them. "Yes, actually were going there right now." The brown haired boy said. His eyes were a darker shade of brown and his smile was friendly and welcoming. "I'm Liam. Liam Payne." Liam said.

"I'm Zayn, are you new here?" The black-haired boy asked me. Tattoos covered most of his neck, arms, and body. He looked like he could be a model for Hot Top or Urban Outfitters.

And, both of the had an equally impressive British accent. It was charming and so rich and deep.

"Is it that obvious?"

"Yes, actually."

"Well, whatever."

All three of us walked into class slowly and took our seats at individual desks. The classroom was barley full, much of the seats were empty.

"So do you like it here in Chicago?!" Zayn asked. "I guess, it seems nice here." I admitted. "Well, I'm from Bradford, but, I was raised here. Maybe I could show you around here sometime." He suggest with a wicked grin. "I would like that." I confessed.

A middle aged woman with long beautiful red hair and dark green eyes strolled in the classroom with the book Lolita in her hands.

"Hello, college students. I'm Miss Fare
And today in America Literature, we will be talking about Lolita. We will soon be doing a book report on this Vladimir Nabokov classic." Ms. Fare said.

.....

"So, how was your first day here, Olivia?" asked Kate, as she stuffed her mouth with Godiva chocolates. "It was kinda great. These helped me found my class." I told her.

"But, Kate while you were gone, a man called you." I said. She questions, "What man?"

"He had some type of British accent. He sounded like a businessman."

"Oh, shit, that's my boss Harry Styles."

"Wait, you work?" I asked, surprised. "Yes, I have been working at that law firm for a long time." She explained.
"Oh, wow." I never knew Kate worked at all, I just thought she was just a party girl. But, this situation let's me know I need to stop being so stereotypical.

"Hey, I could get you a job there. If you want." She suggested. A job? A job right now would save my life and save me from my mom being such a priss and worrying about me.

"Um...sure. I would like that."
