After a long, tiring, and 40 minute drive, I finally go through the shiny black iron gates of the University Of Chicago and began to search for an empty spot in the over-crowded student parking lot in my shiny dark maroon Toyota Camry car.
A bundle of knots are building and being tied up in my stomach as I parked my car and took the key out of the engine, sliding it inside my the front pocket of my blue jeans.
What if I don't make new friends? What if my roommate is a complete weirdo? What if I fail all of my classes?
I was a nervous wreck and these stupid questions that flooded my head wasn't helping my anxiety so I closed my eyes and took a deep breathe. Olivia, everything will be alright. I told myself. These 4 years will be the best college experience of my life.
As I hopped out of the car and stepped outside, the imtidating and sophisticated appearance of CSU makes the butterflies in my stomach wildly and uncontrollably.
I'm feeling lightheaded and quite nauseous, feeling like I'm about to vomit. I popped my trunk and took out my two luggages. A gush of cold wind blew through my hair and it left goosebumps all over me.
Wheeling my luggage behind me, I walked onto the campus and saw a slew of students saying their goodbyes to their love ones and grabbing their boxes.
I took out a slip of paper with my dorm number information quickly as I reach out to grab the handle of the dormitory building. It's C27, I shouldn't get lost, right?
My heart is literally racing and my stomach has dropped as I turn around the corner and find my room.
I take a deep breathe and twist the knob, opening the door and walking in.Two guys and two girls sat on the floor with a bag of popcorn and diet Coke cans at their feet watching Evil Dead. Heads turned quickly once I entered and my eyes instantly looking at the ground, feeling awkward and hating the attention.
A tall blonde girl comes running up to me with a great smile. Her eyes were round and bright ocean blue, her skin was pale, and her nose was small. I'm completely surprised by her affection and I'm still as a statue. "Hi, I'm Zoey, you must be Katherine's roommate!!" She exclaims, excitedly, "What's your name?"
"O'Brien. Olivia O'Brien."
"Well, that's my boyfriend Niall and Kate's boyfriend Louis."
"Hi, it's nice to meet you guys." I waved over to Louis and Niall, who waved back with a wide smile.
"Hey, I'm Kate, could I see you college class schedule?" Kate asked me. I dig into my pocket and take out my folded class schedule, handing it to her. As Kate and Zoey looked through my schedule, I sat my luggage on my small bed and began to unpack my personal belongings.
"Where do you come from, Olivia?" A light and bright voice asked behind me. I looked up to find Niall standing behind me. He had a wickedly great Irish accent, blonde wavy hair, dark grey eyes, and pale skin.
"Virginia." I replied simply, as I folded my clothes and slid them inside the drawer and the closet. "Oh wow, have you ever been to Ireland?" He asks.
"No, but, after college, I would love to travel around the world. That would be my first stop." I promised him. "That's cool." He smiled at me with his husky eyes. "You should come by London." Louis suggested, appearing behind Niall mysteriously.
"Maybe, I will one day, guys." I assured them. "Well, hey Olivia were going to a frat house party, you want to come?" Kate asked.
A party? A frat house party on my first day here? I think not. I know if my mom was here she would give me one of her signature Helen O'Brien icy glare and take me out of here faster than you think.
"Thanks but, no thanks. I'm actually going to go shopping go decoration my side of the room." I said. "Oh, wow have fun." Zoey says, happily. "See you later, Olivia." Louis waves to me.
I wave back and watch Kate, Zoey, Niall, and Louis walk out of the dorm, leaving me and loneliness all alone.
