We rode the airplane going back to Incheon. But instead of doing anything, Dong Sun and I decided to rest in the entire twelve hours flight. We travel late afternoon and we arrived at Incheon by sunrise.
I am a bit nervous. I know I met my in-laws before. First time is when I traveled here at Korea with Nicole and second time was during our wedding day but I have no idea of who they really are. Are they going to be as nice as Dong Sun or are they the kinds of in-laws I watched in Korean drama; frightening and abusive with their daughters-in-law?
Dong Sun carried our luggages and I can see from there that his noona is waving at us.
“Annyeong!” She welcomed us.
“Annyeong unni.” I bowed my head to her.
“Dongsaeng, it is nice to see you again. I have here your hanbok.” She told me.
“Camsahamnida unni.” I told her and bowed my head again.
That is my sister-in-law, Shin Sang Hee. She is already residing at her in-laws house with her husband and before I forgot there was this cute girl approaching me and tagging my skirt. This is Dong Sun’s niece, her name is Sang Mi.
“Annyeong aga!” I told her as I squat and hug her.
She hugged me back and kissed her.
“jagnyeon-e na gieoghae? dangsin-eun na-ege ne samchon ui kkoch-eul jungeoya? (Remember me last year? You gave me a flower from your uncle?)” I ask her.
“Ne.” She shyly answered me.
“Noona, wae dangsin-eun uliui gyeolhonsig-e oji anhneun geoji? (Sister, Why haven't you come at our wedding?)” Dong Sun asked his sister.
“mian haeyo. ne hyungga migug-eulo chuljang eul gajigo issgo uliga hamkke haeyahaessseubnida. ulineun dangsingwa hamkke gal geoyeyo . ulineun najung-e gajog jeonyeog-eul meogneungeoya. (I'm sorry. Your brother has a business trip to United States and we needed to come with him. We'll make it with you. We'll have a family dinner later.)” Sang Hee unni told us.
She then instructed me to wear my hanbok and shortly after I change, she led us to her car to drive us over to Dong Sun’s parents’ house. Upon arriving at our destination, Unni rang the doorbell and when we finally entered, there Dong Sun’s parents were waiting. As soon as we entered the living room and fix our luggage, we formally met with Dong Sun’s parents, did the traditional Korean bow and then sat with them after.
“Sinhon yeohaeng eun eottaess-eo? (How was your honeymoon?)” My father-in-law asks.
“geugeos-eun joh-eun abeoji ibnida. (It is great father.)” Dong Sun answered.
“uliga god agi leul-wihan gidae ? (Are we expecting for a baby soon)?” Dong Sun’s mother asks.
“Omma!” Dong Sun called her attention.
“ulineun eomeonileul gidae hago issseubnida. (We’re looking forward for it, mother)” I told my mother-in-law.
She just looked my way and said nothing.
“eonje yeogie meomul gyehoeg kkaji ? (until when are you planning to stay here?” My father-in-law asks us.
“ama handu dal-e abeoji (maybe a month or two father.)” Dong Sun answered his father.
