During dinner, it was mostly Julie Ann and Jake that were doing the talking; Julie Ann with her modelling experiences in New York, and Jake with his business ventures in Tagaytay.

Alden and Maine simply nodded in agreement when either of them needed affirmation, but when Julie Ann and Jake were starting to get so engrossed in themselves, the two would just sit there and eat quietly.

After dinner, they were all on their own. Julie Ann had intended to take them on a tour around the bungalow, but Alden said that he needed to go to the bathroom, while Maine wanted to get some air, so it was still Julie Ann and Jake that were left in each others' company.

"It's alright," Julie Ann told Jake. "Let's just hang out with them later." She added, staring at Alden, then at Maine, as they walked towards different directions. The night was still so young and the mayhem she was about to cause was scheduled for when they were about to leave the bungalow. Julie Ann made sure that she was going to end this night with a bang, after all.

As soon as Maine felt that she was alone on the balcony, she let out sigh of relief. "Thank you, Lord, sa pagbigay Mo sa akin ng kahit 5 minutes lang away from Julie Ann and Jake. Hindi Mo alam kung ano ako kasaya ngayon." She thought, as she felt the cool, evening breeze gently hit her face.

Tonight had become so stressful for her, that these rare moments of alone time and silence, just made her feel at peace with herself, with her real feelings

Maine knew that she no longer loved Jake, that after of all these years of trying, of trying to put the pieces of their broken relationship together, it just wasn't meant to work out the way she hoped it would.

At the start of their relationship, Maine was at her happiest. Jake seemed like her prince charming, after all. He had been there for her through the good times and the bad, promised her things he would always keep, and spoke of an amazing future they'd share together.

Maine didn't know what good she had done in her life to deserve a man like him, but suddenly, in a mere snap of a finger, the Jake she had fallen in love with, just disappeared.

She didn't know if it was because his father had pressured him too much when it came to running the company their family owned. Mr. Ejercito wasn't getting any younger after all, and he knew that he needed someone as intelligent and as competent as Jake to lead the prestigious company that he had built over the years.

Maine was happy for Jake at first, but as the years passed, she noticed the negative effect of the company on him. When they wanted to spend time together, it was more of "I'm sorry babe, I can't make it" than "Don't worry babe, I'll make time for you". When there was something that Maine wanted to do, it was more of "Are you really sure about it? Iiwanan mo na talaga ako?" than "I support you all the way". And lastly, when they talked about the future, it was more of "me" than "us".

"Tama na." Maine thought. "Napapagod na akong ayusin ang isang bagay na parati nalang masisira." She added.

Just as Maine was starting to get lost in her thoughts, a gentle touch on her shoulder pulled her back to reality. It was none other than Alden would decided to keep her company outside.

"Alam mo, pwede naman tayong umalis dito kung gusto mo. Let's run away and don't ever look back nga di ba sabi ni Katy Perry?" Alden joked, to which Maine responded with a smile.

"Tempting ang 'let's run away and don't ever look back', but just like you said a while ago, kailangan ko munang makipaghiwalay kay Jake." Maine replied. "We can't just escape our problems all the time, hindi ba? We need to face them head on."
