"Ok, I think that's everything" I said shakily as Skyler, my sister unpacked the last few boxes.
"You sure?" She half whispers and tucked a piece of hair behind my ears, trying not to cry. I nodded, "you know mum would be so proud of you, and dad"I nodded again and sobbed into her shoulder. This was the first time I've ever left my sister. Our parents died when we were only young and we've been moved around different care homes ever since. We're twins so we're starting uni roughly at the same time... so here I was. Settling in to my new apartment in lincon all by myself.
"Promise me" she sniffed "you'll take care of your self, go out and make some friends for the first time. You never know, friends might be more fun then you think"
I chuckled at her comment, still crying hard. Unlike my sister (who was drop dead gorgeous) I had an ugly crying face.
"I'll try" I sobbed "just for you, sis. Now get out of here before I change my mind about this whole university thing""Ok ok..." she cried her annoyingly pretty crying face "I'll leave you to do whatever you fangirl-Tumblr-skateboarding kids do"
A moment of silence went by as my twin headed towards the door.
"Omg I can't believe this is happening like seriously" Skyler cry-laughed
"GO!" I chuckled, still crying into my giant grumpy cat plushy.
She gave me a sad smile before quickly walking out the door "see you in a couple weeks ok?"
"Yeah... see you then I guess.."
I looked around at all the boxes I still needed to unpack. I just couldn't do it, not now anyway. I just needed some air.
I grabbed my coat and headed out the door for a short walk. After all I need to get to know the area a bit.
I stepped into the cold English air, taking in the scent of fresh bread.Ok so apparently I live next to a bakery now. See I'm learning already!
I just moved into lincon to study journalism at university. Lincon was a small British city with cobbled pavements and endless tea rooms. It was truly adorable, it was a place I would have loved to have grown up in. Not like all the trampy kids' homes in the backstreets of the city.
Yea those were some pretty grim times...I found a small park with a little lake and a kids playground. Deciding to go in, I wandered down the path and put my headphones in.
There was a sweet couple sitting on a bench with a pram, gazing into each others eyes. It made me wonder what I'd be doing in a couple of years from now. Probably not what they're doing. They just look so... happy...
"SHIT" I screeched with a loud splash.
Suddenly everything went silent and dark and wet and still... I saw golden flecks beneath my feet and wandered where I was. I tried taking a deep breath but instead I inhaled some thick, murky water.
Chocking and gasping for air, I started to panic. I realized where what... god damn it I forgot there was a lake in this stupid park.
I felt wet hands grabbing my shaking body and pulling me to the edge of the lake.
And that was it... everything went blank. That's all I remember from that day.
