"Lily..." Daisy whispered in a hushed tone. "Lily, wake up." Daisy flicked the sleeping girl. Nothing. Daisy sighed and got up, carefully stepping over Lily to go to the bathroom. She returned with a handful of water, which she then tossed on Lily's face. Lily shot up, looking around, taking in all of her surroundings. She was confused and scared for a second until she realized she was in her living room, Daisy standing in front of her while the t.v. quietly played in the background.
"Lily!" Daisy whisper-shouted, she didn't want to wake up Lily's parents. Although to be completely honest, she didn't even know if they were home. They were always going on business trips and leaving Lily without even a single goodbye. They usually returned within a few days though. "What do you want Daisy?" Lily spoke in a harsh tone, she was never in a good mood when she was woken up. "Lily I'm scared." Daisy sat down next to Lily as Lily sat up.
"I knew we shouldn't have watched a scary movie. I told you you would get scared!" Lily grabbed the t.v. remote and started flipping through the channels. "I know, I know. You told me so. But I just figured since we're freshman now I shouldn't be scared of everything, so I'm trying to get over all- or most of my fears." Daisy said, getting more comfortable on the couch. "I get that but did you really have to start that right now? I mean, we have school tomorrow, and you and on both know I need my sleep." Lily landed on a channel which was playing cartoons. She knew cartoons always calmed Daisy down when she was scared.
"What time is it anyways?" Lily questioned, turning around to see Daisy completely focused on the show. "Daisy." She waved her hand in front of her face, trying to get her attention. "Huh." Daisy said. "What time is it?" Lily asked, once again. Daisy picked up her phone and opened it. The brightness of the screen nearly blinded both of them. "It's 4:03." Daisy stated. "Daisy we have school in a few hours. try to get some sleep." Lily closed her eyes but opened them after feeling Daisy tap her shoulder.
"Daisy...-" Lily groaned. "Lily, it's not about the movie. It something else." Daisy scooted off the couch and on the floor next to Lily. "Then what is it then?" Lily asked.
"It's- it's the new kid. Ethan. I feel like he has never felt affection before. Or like he's never gotten any good attention from anyone. He seems so lonely. He looks so tired Lily. So so tired. Like he hasn't slept in days. He looks so sad. So afraid. I want to help him, I just don't know how." Daisy started to tear up.Lily enclosed her in a hug, making sure her friend felt safe. "Shh shh, it's okay, don't cry. I'm here. I understand. I get it. There's something up with him, I won't deny it. But Daisy, we have to keep in mind that we just met him today and we can't just assume things. I know he looks tired. I know he looks sad. All we have to do- all we can do, is be his friend. Make sure he's feels safe. Stand up for him. We need to make him feel... Better." Lily sighed. She knew what Daisy meant. She understood. Ethan was utterly alone, and it didn't take long to figure that out.
"Lily... We need to help him. Now." Daisy said, quickly looking something up on her phone. "Daisy it's four in the morning how on earth are we suppo-"Lily was quickly interrupted when Daisy started to call someone. Who could she be calling at this hour? Who would be awake? Who would even answer? "Shoot. Probably sleeping." Daisy said with an exhausted huff. "Of course they wouldn't be awake! It's four in the morning for god's sake!" Lily plopped herself down on the floor in the pile of pillows and blankets she had constructed as a makeshift bed.
"Get up." Daisy ordered. "Daisy no. We have school tomorrow and we need to sleep, plus, I'm sure whatever plan you have in store for us tonight will get us in trouble. I'm all for you facing your fears, just don't face them at 4 in the morning." Lily said. "Lily this can't wait." Daisy spoke. Lily sighed and got up, way too awake to go back to sleep anytime soon. They walked over to the door, both slipping on a pair of shoes. By this point their tired minds had no way of telling them this was a ridiculous idea that was sure to get them in trouble. And yet, they left.
