The three men stepped out of Sam's room, and Dean grabbed what he needed from his duffel, taking the lead down the stairs, Sam between the lovers. As they reached the lobby, the youngest Winchester caught sight of feathers, and light brown hair that he thought he'd never see again.
"Well, boys, I must say, I'm loving the glasses. I always did go for the nerdy guys," the short archangel smirked up at them, whiskey eyes locking with Sam's. "Heya, Samsquatch."
Gabriel's wings were slightly smaller than Castiel's, because Gabriel was slightly shorter. It was still an impressive span, though, and the feathers made a different shape of wing, built for smoothness and regality rather than speed or power. The feathers, though touched with flecks of gold, flares of chocolate brown, and flashes of blues, blacks, and purples, still had more snowy shades than Castiel's.
"Gabriel? Y-you were dead. How...why is he here, Cas?" Dean turned on his boyfriend, who bit his lip slightly.
"I found him. I thought he'd perished by Lucifer's hand, but-"
"But I'm not actually stupid enough to go up against Lucy when he's throwing a temper tantrum." Gabriel tossed back the honey-coloured drink in the glass is hold.
Castiel moved past the brothers to stand by his own. "He's here to help, Dean, and I thought he would be useful."
"And you got no problems with takin' some of these angelic assholes outta the picture, huh?"
Gabriel smiled curtly at Dean. "Not if it means my best, dearest bro can be with his human. And its not like I'm doing this out of the goodness of my grace." Gabriel said slyly, throwing a brief smirk at Sam, who's eyes flicked away.
Dean caught this, and looked at his brother. "Sammy, you don't seem particularly surprised to see freaking...Loki, here..."
Sam considered his words carefully before speaking. "Dean, the angels are after me, too. Don't you think it's a bit weird that they attack both of us, even when we get separate rooms, which makes you an easy target?"
The elder Winchester glared at Gabriel, and started towards him. "You son of a bitch!" He shoved the brunet angel against the wall, pushing him up slightly.
Sam started after them both, trying to make sure his brother didn't cause any permanent damage. Against the wall, Gabriel's wings twitched. Castiel grabbed his boyfriend's arm, but Dean didn't look away from Gabriel's glare."Dean, leave him alone," Sam ordered. "Its OK, Dean, he's fine."
After a second of consideration, Dean dropped the angel in his grasp, pushing away and stepping closer to Castiel while Sam saw that the archangel wasn't shaken.
Gabriel just glared at Dean as Sam fussed over him, but then turned a grin to the taller Winchester. "Thanks, Sammich, but I'm fine. Just harbouring resentment to your hypocrite brother. "
"Yeah, and what's that supposed to mean?" Dean snarled, but instead of starting towards Gabriel again, he grabbed Castiel's hand.
"It means, dear simpleton, that when you date my baby bro, all's peachy, but the second I go near Sam-"
"Sammy, tell me he's lying. That's what he does! You're not. You can't..."
Sam straightened, looking at his brother apologetically. "I'm sorry, Dean, but...I like him. He came back the week you got with Cas, and...well, we started talking."
Dean sighed, gripping Cas' hand tighter. "Did you know about this, Cas?"
"...Yes. I did, but it didn't seem like Sam and Gabriel's relations were my business." Cas didn't break Deans eye contact as he spoke.
