Leafshine's beginning [discontinued]

Chapter 9

"No!" Goldenstar shouted as he ran over to the dead tom. He looked down. Leaf stood beside him her eyes wide.

"Smokeclaw, no, what about your mate? And kits?" He said mostly to himself. He looked down. Leaf sat next to him. Her fur brisling slightly. She looked at him and laid her muzzle into his neck fur. Goldenstar closed his eyes and stood up.

"My cats gather." He called out. All the calms cat walked away from the Rageclan rouges. Leaf was about to stand up but he looked at her. She sat back down. Boulder sat beside her. He was bleeding from a deep cut near his neck. She licked the wound but it kept bleeding.

"We have lost our deputy Smokeclaw to the paws of these rouges. We will carry his body back to camp and mourn for him there. I must name the new deputy. Leaf, I know you are not yet part of our clan, or have decided to. But I wish for you to be deputy. You great leadership in this battle. Will you?" He asked. Leaf stared at him. She nodded slowly and smiled.

"But I'm going to need a name first." She said smiling. Goldenstar walked over to her and she stood up.

"Leaf, from this moment on your name will be Leafshine. Your spirit is strong and shine through even in these hard times. In the eyes of Starclan I as if you to be the new deputy. And my mate." Leafshine nodded and the clans cat yowled in happiness. Goldenstar smiled and touched his nose to Leaf's Boulder purred and stood up skakingly. Leaf walked to her father's side as some other cats took Smokeclaw's body. Bark stood up and walked over to Leafshine.

"Leaf, I know that all we did was fight but thanks. You saved Rageclan from me trying to kill my father." He mewed to her. Leafshine drew back from Goldenstar. She smiled at Bark and nodded.

"I hope you lead them well." She said touching her nose to his shoulder. Bark looked down at her and smiled. She drew back and walked away over to her mother's body. Her eyes began to glaze over. She closed her eyes and let her emotions come out. Hot tears came down her cheeks as she cried softly. Boulder limped over to her and wrapped his tail around her.

"You have your mother's brain and wits." He said softly to her. Leafshine opened her eyes and nodded. She licked Petal's head and Boulder laid his nose on Petal's for the last time.  He grabbed her scuff and laid her on his back. Leafshine helped as they began to walk out of the city.
