- Kennedy's POV -
I lifted my foot off the pavement and onto my skateboard. The wind flowed through my brunette hair.
I sighed as the school bus passed by, stopping at the corner the orphanage was on.
"Fuck," I cursed, seeing that I hadn't beat the bus. I don't ride the bus because its filled with stuck up snobs that think they own the world. By stuck up snobs, I mean the older girls at the orphanage.
I placed my foot on the pavement & pushed my body foward. I reached tho orphanage and hopped off my skateboard. I kicked my skateboard up, grabbing it when it was in reach of my hands. I hoisted my bookbag up higher on my shoulder and climbed up the steps.
"Eww, look, its skater girl, Kennedy," Destiny spoke behind me. I came to a sudden halt and whipped around.
"Fuck off," I growled, flipping her off. She dramatically gasped.
"Does it look like I care that you just flipped me off? I don't. I'm two grades higher than you & will always be more popular than you. No boy will ever like you because you're known as the freak that are afraid of them." I blinked away the tears that were threatning to spill out.
She doesn't know what I've been through. Nobody does. But Marie and Fiz.
"Shut up! You don't know what I've been through! I'm an orphan and I know! You're not any better! You've been one for your whole life!" I cried before storming into the orphanage.
"How was school?" Marie asked. I stopped and looked ahead. I do not dare to look at her.
"Great," I said through clenched teeth. I ran up the stairs before she could ask more questions. I turned the knob to my bedroom and peeked inside. Fiz was sprawled on her bed, reading a book. I was glad I was sharing a room with Fiz and just Fiz. I refused to share a room with girls my age or older.
"Hey," I greeted, placing my bookbag on my bed. Fiz looked up and smiled. Then her smile turned into a frown.
"Whats wrong?" She came over to my bed. I didn't look at her, I looked out the window.
"Destiny." Fiz furrowed her eyebrows and frowned.
"Again?" She asked. I nodded.
"She doesn't know what I've been through, but she thinks she can judge me anytime she wants." I looked down and before I knew it, I was crying. I'm the kind of girl that is stubborn & tough, but I have emotions. Whenever someone reminds me why I ended up in this orphanage, I lose it. I hate remembering how I got here. Why I'm here.
Fiz let go and stared at me sympathetically. I looked up and smiled. Fiz was like my little sister. Her laugh can make anyone laugh.
"I'm going to go eat. Are you okay?" She asked. I nodded and patted her head. Fiz smiled and ran out of our room. I stared at my night stand and reached for the small drawer. I pulled out a picture of my mother & someone else important in my life.
"Carson," I whispered as my fingers touched the figure next to my mother.
Who's Carson, may you ask?
Carson Smith. My best friend. My other half. My twin sister.
Yes, I had a twin sister. There was two of me. Before my soul-less father decided to take away her life.
I shook my head and placed the picture back in my drawer.
Move on. Move on.
Everyone has told me to move on. I've tried, but its hard. Do you think its easy for you to see your mother on the floor, lifeless and surrounded by a pool of blood? Or your sister on the floor with purple bruises on her neck? Carson was strangled to death.
