"What do u mean?" I just managed to get out.

"Dad's gone, he's abandoned us!" She cried.

I stood up, and grabbed her arms tightly. I shook her slightly to bring her to her senses.

"Don't say that, you know that's not true," I screamed, "Not after what happened. He loves us and you know that. He would never leave us."

"If he didn't leave us then, where is he?" She argued back.

"I honestly don't know. But look around us. Do you see anyone? Where's Sam and Jessica? They're always out on their bikes at 3:30pm, so where are they? The Patrick's house looks untouched and so does Miss Dailey's. And one final question, was Amy in today?

Amy was Kara's older sister, and Becky's best friend, so this could be the break in my suspicion. The look on her face said it all. Amy never showed up to school. I was soon corrected as Becky shuck her head slightly.

"No, she never turned up. I haven't been in contact with her since Saturday." She confessed.

"Ella, Kara and a girl called Sarah weren't in today either. I haven't heard from Ella and Kara since last night, and we're always in contact one way or another."

I stared at my older sister for a second. Her usual stroppy features were replaced with worried and scared ones. I've never seen this weak side if her, or that's because she never wants to see me. Me and Becky don't usually get on that well, due to our past. Our relationship just includes arguing and insults. We don't have the sisterly relationship that Kara and Amy have. Well, we'll have too put our feelings a side and find out what the hell is going.

"Don't you see a pattern forming." I said in a quite and timid tone.

She nodded. "But what are we gonna do about it. You say the streets are abandoned, so who will help us?"

"We don't know if every house is abandoned though. We should check before we jump to conclusion."

We both walked down the stairs in complete and utter silence. We didn't know what to say to each other. But that's us for you.

As soon as we were out the door, we separated, and searched the houses in our neighbourhood. We looked through letterboxes and windows ,  but there was still no sign of everything normal or abnormal. We knock on doors, and called peoples names, but there was still no answer. A whole neighbourhood can't go missing, or can it? They've disappeared without a trace. My usual happy and lively neighbourhood, is now silent and empty. Keeping my thoughts to myself, I crossed the road and walked up to my older sister. She looked just as puzzled as I was.

"It's completely abandoned." She said while throwing her arms in the air, out if frustration.

"I know." I tried to come up with an idea, but my mind was blank. For once, I looked at my older sister for help.

"What do we do?" I asked her.

She looked at me with a shocked expression. I was quite shocked myself. Then I saw something I never thought I'd see. Pity. I saw pity in the eyes of the sister I thought hated me, and wanted nothing more than me leave. Disappear with out a trace of me living. Kinda like the situation we're in now.

She looked back at our house before she answered, "I think it's safer if we stay inside. We don't know what's going on so our best bet is to stay inside and observe. I'll guess we'll have to go from there."

She turned back to me and shrugged her shoulders. I copied her actions and followed her back inside , totally oblivious to what is about to happen!
