the girl had given him medications to help with his concussion, and let him fall asleep, waking him up every three hours to give him some water. he was starting to feel better, and his head was clearing up. she had make a makeshift cast, and promised that she would bring him to urgent care after he dealt with the concussion, because she didn't have enough money to pay for him staying in the hospital overnight. he wondered how she knew what to do for concussions and broken ankles, but more importantly, he wanted to understand why. whenever he asked, she would just say it's the right thing to do, and she oddly felt like she owed him for something. he thought it was strange, too, but he wasn't complaining. she was basically nursing him back to health in a blue one story house.
they began to understand more about each other, and they even played a few board games, in the time he was awake. he asked her if the house was hers, and she answered with: "no, it's my mom's, but she's off on a three-month safari in africa with my step-dad." he nodded, understanding that that was why she had let him into her home, she was alone, and likely didn't have too many friends, though, he couldn't understand why. she was a really nice girl, and she was really, really pretty too. he wondered if she was like max, maybe they'd be good friends, wait, max! where was she? where was dustin? lucas? will? he asked jane if she knew of them, and she nodded. "who doesn't know of them? they're the popular kids." she said, and it sounded like she'd had some issues with them before, so he decided to drop it. something weird was going on here, and he was going to figure it out.dedicated to Stranger-Harley, who's cooler than dustin. thank you for being a great friend (:
