"MICHAEL WHEELER, YOU DID NOT JUST DO THAT!" jane shouted, her eyes wide, and she was clearly annoyed. "jane! i'm sorry, it had to be done!" mike replied, his voice raspy from the little amount of sleep he had gotten the day before. he had stayed up all night, he didn't know what to do with himself. he had kissed her. and it was great. his mind kept replaying that scenario over and over, until he was too excited to sleep. it was saturday evening now, and he had stayed up until 3:00am setting up the living room for what they had deemed as "game day", which meant that they would play monopoly and pictionary until it got dark, when they would watch a movie and eat the cheap movie candy they found at the country store. mike had just put a hotel on boardwalk, and jane was going in that direction. she crossed her fingers, and rolled the dice, landing on... they boy counted out the places. "BOARDWALK, BABY!" mike yelled, smiling like a dork. "i can't believe you. i guess i'll trade my vermont for a free stay?" she asked, knowing it was under the value of one night at the boardwalk hotel. "fine, but only because you're cute." mike said, laughing. jane felt her face get hot. mike had practically monopolized the entire board, and jane noted that he was a way better player than he let on. she smiled at his dorky smile as he placed yet another set of hotels on the board, thanks to her vermont. "do you want to take a break and go get pizza?" she asked, standing up.
mike grinned. "yeah, i still feel really bad about the whole i-don't-have-a-job-and-i'm-relying-on-you-for-everything scenario, though." he replied truthfully. he knew that he wouldn't be here long enough to get a steady job, as he still had to get home, to his family, and to his friends. his mom and sister needed him, and he was worrying how they had gotten on without him for a week. had holly gotten picked up from school?  he was snapped out of these thoughts as jane chuckled. "just remember you owe me." she joked, holding out her hand to help him up.
he smiled and took her hand, not using it so much as to pull him up from the ground, but as an excuse to hold it. he knew she was blushing, and he was too. these two were the biggest dorks out there.
jane's dog, who for some reason, refused to leave jane's room often, came out, stretching, and followed them out the door, and into jane's car. her dog, levi, had always loved car rides. he was a black lab, and he was always really
laid back. he seemed to like mike more than other friends of jane's, so that had to mean something, right?
