Can't pretend

Chapter 1: Lets make a deal

"April....earth to April" the male's teasing voice pushed as he patted her shoulder.
"Yeah, yeah what's up?" She said turning her bright blue eyes to meet his dark brown eyes.
"I asked if you wanted to grab dinner before we head home" he said standing up and packing his stuff.
"Sorry I didn't hear you, yeah sure wait that means that class is over...that means I missed everything"
"Don't worry I took notes"
"Yes, but Daniel sweetie your notes are never efficient" she stood up and began to pack her notes in her bag.
"The efficiency does not matter when you have absolutely nothing because you were too busy day dreaming" he retorts as they exit the classroom.
"I know I'm sorry I'm just a little on edge...you know with my sisters wedding being in a week and the whole date situation"
"You mean you still haven't told them you don't have one...I mean really April it's been four years and you haven't told them you're single"
"I've been meaning too, but I just don't know how too...my parents think I'm this incredible behavioral major with a hot boyfriend and incredible future" she said as he held the clear glass door of the building open for her
"You are and eventually you will have one....what's going to happen when you show up empty handed next week"
"I don't know Dan I don't know"
"Well you better figure it out soon...so you want Chinese or what"
"Sure, Dan you're suppose to be my best friend, my roommate, my right hand man...why the hell do you suck at helping?"
"I guess we'll never know April..but how can I help you when you have zero ideas I mean you could have at least come up with part of a plan"
"I'm basically screwed" they continued to walk in silence until they got to a small Chinese joint, the entered gracefully and sat down at a near table for two. Daniel quickly ordered for both and the silence continued until he noticed that April was biting her lip.
"You're biting your lip what's up now"
"What do you mean?" She answered dumbfounded
"You only bit you're lip when you're thinking really hard or nervous"
"Okay this is going to sound Crazy but I have an idea"
"Well let's hear it...you might as well tell me before you do something stupid"
"Okay hear me out..I need a boyfriend for my sister's wedding, but I don't have a boyfriend"
"Yes we've established this"
"Shut up and listen... I know for a fact that you're available next week come with me"
"Why do you want me to come with you"
"Jesus Daniel are you that oblivious...you can pretend to be my boyfriend"
"And why would I want to do that?"
"Because you love me and don't want me to fail at life..come on Dan. You don't have to do much just pretend to be my incredibly hot boyfriend"
"Oh April sweetheart I don't have to pretend to be hot"
"So are you saying you'll do it"
"Okay, but I need you to do something for me"
"Anything"
"You're coming home with me for thanksgiving as my girlfriend"
"Why you're family knows you don't have one"
"Yeah I know but I can say that I wanted you to be a surprise...my family probably doesn't think much of me but if I bring you home this smart incredible girl..my sister might actually be proud of me."
"Dan I know that Caroline is proud of you and I know that you're family has never looked down on you...they love you"
"It's whatever"
"Deal...let's do this" she smiled at him leaning forward to hug him.
"Okay"
"We leave Friday morning"
"Acceptable"
"Absolutely" Then the music in the background seemed more clear..the sound of going home seemed easier.
