Ch.5 Emergency

Maya and Kermit starting running at full speed down the block away from the shooting! Maya's ears were ringing and it felt like she was going deaf. Kermit accidentally led them into an alley with a dead end. They were trapped and it seemed like the shooter was getting closer and closer.

Suddenly they saw a figure headed straight towards them. Kermit began looking around for a way out, but there were none. Maya was horrified. She was in shock so she could barely move or process what was going on. It all happened so fast!

Kermit wasn't going to let anyone hurt his little girl. He jumped in front of Maya just as the figure fired a shot. Suddenly another guy came running into the alley just as Kermit and Maya collapsed onto the hard concrete.

The last thing Maya remembered seeing was a guy in a blue shirt and brown boots fighting off the shooter.

Lucas had been that guy, and he came just in time. The shooter ran away, after Lucas had thrown a few punches at him. Sure he had a gun, but Lucas was as strong as a horse when it came to Maya. He quickly ran to Maya and Kermit's side.

Kermit has been shot at right in the ribs and Maya wasn't responding. Lucas' hands were trembling as he dialed 911. He had never been more afraid in his life. The ambulance came in a matter of minutes.

They put Maya and Kermit on a stretcher and Lucas rode with them. On the ambulance Lucas decided to call Farkle. After one ring Farkle answered. "Farkle Farkle, something horrible has happened to Maya meet me at Mercy Hospital" Lucas said into the phone, his voice quivering.

"I'll be there soon" Farkle responded quickly. Farkle ran out of his house without a care in the world of what his parents would say or that the hospital was a 20 minute run.

He was beyond worried about Maya. He ran past Riley's house and suddenly stopped. He so desperately wanted Riley to be with him at this moment. She made him feel strong, and her smile warmed his heart. He needed her by his side. He ran back to Riley's house and up her fire escape.

He looked through her window and saw her on her computer. He quickly knocked on the window and blabbered out "MAYAISINTHEHOSPITALANDWENEEDTOHURRY." "What" Riley yelled confused? "Maya is in the hospital" Farkle bellowed out of breath!

Riley instantly felt worry. She didn't know Maya very well...or at all but she felt deeply connected to her.

"Okay okay my dad will drive us", Riley said as she ran to wake up her dad. It took a little long to wake up Cory but as soon as he understood Maya was in the hospital he quickly woke up and got to the car.

Riley, Farkle and Cory rode in silence praying everything was okay. Cory was always very fond of Maya and saw a lot of potential in her. Farkle was shaking his leg rapidly while Riley looked out the window, a tear rolling down her cheek.

In about ten minutes they were finally at the hospital. They ran inside looking very crazy due to the fact that all three were still in pajamas, but they didn't care.

Cory walked up to the desk frantically and asked, "What room is Maya Hart in?" The lady said " She is in room 214 and please sign in first." We all scribbled our names down and ran to room 214.

Farkle tried to open the door to the room but it was locked. Farkle was furious,not being able to know what was going on with Maya. After about five minuets a nurse came out and closed the door behind her. "Are you friends of Maya Hart?"

Farkle glared at her because he was not in the mood for stupid questions. Cory placed a hand on his shoulders and Farkle calmed down. The nurse took that as a yes and told them that only 2 more visitors were allowed in the room since one was already in there.

Cory agreed to wait outside as Farkle and Riley walked in, preparing themselves for the worst. As soon as they walked in they saw a very upset Lucas sitting next to an unconscious Maya and holding her hand.

Farkle ran to Maya's side as Riley stood there in shock. Lucas had yet to notice Riley's presence.

"What did the doctor say Lucas" Farkle asked? "He said she's traumatized and that's why she's not responding, i guess she's in a little coma but they say it's not too serious" Lucas responded in a shaky voice.

"What happened to her," Riley asked, holding back tears. Lucas quickly turned around and glared at her, and then at Farkle.
