Ch.6 Arguments

Lucas slowly got up from his seat. His face had no expression and his eyes were stone cold. "Why would you bring a stranger here?" "She's not a stranger Lucas and she makes me feel better, and she cares for Maya too" Farkle stated a little afraid of Lucas.

"We don't even know her man, you just want your little girlfriend around" Lucas yelled! "I'm not his girlfriend" Riley pointed out a little too quickly.

Farkle looked away from both of them feeling a little embarrassed. "Why do you hate me so much" Riley asked confused? "I don't hate you, I...I just", Lucas sighed and sat back down next to Maya. Riley didn't know whether to approach Lucas or leave, so she asked her question again.

"What happened?" Lucas took a deep breath before answering. "She was with this man and this other guy in a hood had them at gun point." "By the time I got there the shooter had shot the guy she was with, and I guess Maya fainted."

"The doctors said, if it wasn't for me, they would have died." "By any chance did the guy Maya was with have blonde hair" Farkle asked? "I think so why" Lucas asked sounding very clueless?

"Nothing" Farkle quickly said. Maya had never told Lucas about her dad or any of her problems at home, but Farkle knew everything. He was her best friend after all.

Riley slowly walked over to Maya and held her other hand. "Your going to be okay" she whispered gently to Maya. Suddenly Maya's eyes shot open. It was a miracle. Riley and Lucas both jumped back startled as Maya began looking around the room.

Farkle ran outside of the room to call a doctor. Once Maya came to the realization of Riley she froze, and didn't even notice her boyfriend Lucas. "Oh my god Maya your okay" Lucas cheered as he hugged her. Maya tried her best to hug him back, but all of her attention was on the brunette.

Maya bit her lip and finally looked away. She smiled at Lucas and then at Farkle, who had walked in with the doctor. The doctor began asking questions. "How did she wake up?"

Lucas began responding with "I don't know I...." He was interrupted by Riley who told them, "I grabbed Maya's hand and told her she would  get better, then she woke up" Riley said as she smiled at the blonde. The doctor looked at Riley and then at Maya and then again at Riley.

"Hmmm" he mumbled with a smile. Maya who was still a little confused with everything tried to reach for her glass of water but couldn't get it. Riley quickly got it for her and Maya slowly took it.

The doctor began observing the two for a few minutes as he ran some test on Maya. Riley couldn't take her eyes off of Maya but neither could Lucas. Although Riley seemed a little more worried. When the doctor finished running all of the tests he asked one final question.

"Maya, is he your boyfriend or is she your girlfriend?" Lucas' eyes popped out and Maya immediately spit out her water! Riley stayed silent as Farkle stared her down as if he was trying to analyze her.

Lucas quickly spoke up and said "She's my girlfriend and she's one hundred percent straight sir!"

Maya quickly stuttered out, " Yeah yeah I..I..I barley know her you know we just um kind of met and you know." "Oh my mistake" the doctor said, not sounding the least bit sorry. "She has to stay here over night and then in the morning she may leave", the doctor  started.

"Okay" Lucas said. Once the doctor left, the room became very silent. "How are you feeling baby girl" Lucas asked Maya kindly? Riley cringed as she heard him speak and looked away from the "happy" couple.

Maya responded "I'm okay ranger Rick but I don't really remember what happened." "Well I was walking around New York looking for you because you never showed up to the bakery...." Lucas started.

Farkle interrupted and asked "Yeah why didn't you show up Maya"? "I...I had to meet my mom at home." "But you weren't home, I went there and your apartment was empty" Lucas said as he squinted his eyes at Maya.

"Tell us the truth Maya" Farkle said. "OKAY fine, the truth is I've had a horrible day and I just didn't feel like talking to anyone and now I don't know if my dad is okay and..." She suddenly realized what she had said.

Maya had told Lucas long ago that her dad died to avoid ever talking about him. "I thought your dad died" Lucas said getting angry. "Yeah yeah he did I just forgot for a minute" Maya said quickly. "Maya I can tell your lying...I know your keeping a LOT of things from me" Lucas yelled this time.

Maya couldn't take it any more. She had a horrible day, her dad could be dying for all she knew and now her boyfriend was yelling at her.

Maya Hart never cried, but at that moment she was oh so very close. Maya couldn't let anyone see her cry so she began yelling, "Get out get out, get out I need some time to myself." Everyone walked out the room quickly except for Riley.

She felt bad for Maya but decided it was best to leave her alone. Farkle could tell Lucas was furious and knew he needed to take a walk before he broke something. "Lucas follow me to the cafeteria."

"No thanks Farkle." "I wasn't asking" Farkle said. They both walked to the cafeteria, leaving Riley alone with her father, Mr.Matthews in the lobby.

"I understand if you don't want to go to school tomorrow", Cory said kindly. "Thanks dad." "I have to go call Katy and your mother, but I left my phone in the car so I'll be right back" Cory stated.

After two minutes of being alone, Riley realized she had left her phone in the room. Riley slowly opened the door to Maya's hospital room and was shocked at what she saw!
