You are so lucky I like you Alexandra," I say as I reached Lexi's locker. Her head was in her locker so I couldn't see her face but I could tell she had left her hair out today.
"What did I do Tee?" she says finally shutting her locker and looking at me. Lexi was a morning person. She was loud and bubbly from 4am on a daily basis. So it was a shock to see that her eyes were red and puffy today and there was no trace of her usual salmon pink lip gloss.
"Hey, what's wrong Lexi?" I asked, concerned.
"Ty and I had a fight," she says and I can tell she is on the verge of tears.
I take her hand and check the time on her watch. We have fifteen minutes till first period math. I lead her towards the Woodwork class which is always free in the mornings.
"Spill," I say when we are in the room with the door closed.
"Okay, so yesterday after Yoga class I wanted to pass by and see Ty cause on my way to class I saw these cute matching t-shirts that said 'Bae' and 'Boo' and I got them for us. I was so excited to give them to him so I thought I'd pass by his house after class. So I went by and showed them to him and he said he hated them. Not the style of the shirts or anything but cause I always want everyone to know we're dating and he kicked me out of his house. I don't know why he got so upset, I kept calling him but it went straight to voicemail," she narrated, ending with fresh tears.
Well, Lexi and Ty are famous for fights. But for a while now they've been good. So I can't say I'm entirely surprised. Lexi usually apologizes first cause she loved Tyler first and she doesn't want to lose him, but for Lexi's sake I think she shouldn't this time. Sure she did make him fall in love with her but if he genuinely is in love with her he shouldn't have her begging always, much less when he flipped this time. Ty wasn't out right wrong, but he was. In the beginning Lexi had insisted they walk everywhere together, hold hands, make out in public but after the first month Lexi herself got tired of it and stopped the ownership craze. So his argument was a little bit late.
"Lexi, you know what? I think it's about time you stop apologising to Tyler. If he says he loves you now, he should prove it. He messed up this time, let him apologize to you. Don't let him ruin your day. Wait for him to apologize," I lecture
"But I don't want to lose him," she argues still sobbing.
"If he is good enough for you, you won't. Now go wash your face and put on some lip gloss. Don't let him ruin you Lexi."
"Okay." She wipes her eyes and we make our way to the Ladies'. Normal Greenview High morning. Girls in the washroom touching up their make-up, others trying to get out stains from breakfast. The morning washroom rush was over when we got there so we were the only ones there apart from Gail and Tracy who took a cue when they saw Lexi's eyes to leave us alone. Lexi splashed water on her face and wiped it dry with her hanky before pulling out her tube of lip gloss. When she was done applying I asked in my best impersonation of her,
"What's popping Lexi? "
"My face beat!" she replied with a smile.
"That's my Lexi! "
We made our way to first period math.
Lunch was going to be a long one if Ty didn't apologize.
