Melanie's POV

I've been following this guy for about twenty minutes now, and we finally arrived here. Where ever here is, it's amazing. Red and white roses are planted perfectly along the stone path that leads to an huge mansion. The property has to be at least fifty acres.

When he entered the password to the large gate, we walked toward the front door. The door had carvings of roses around the sides with a blade etched into the middle. Out of nowhere, the massive door swung open causing both of us to fall over.

"Fuck off!" The culprit yelled as he stormed out of the house.

"You get your ass back in here young man!" A woman yelled back, but he was too far gone. "Oh when you get back I swear I'll-" She stopped when she saw me staring from the ground. "Oh dear, are you okay?"

"Mother, I didn't know you were home." This is his mum? She doesn't look older then twenty.

"Hello, Max, nice to see you too." She said, playfully rolling her eyes.

"Heh, sorry Mother."

"It's alright, Dear. Your father had a business trip, and you know I couldn't leave you boys here alone." She finished, winking at him.

"Ruvel and Blake are the only ones you should be concerned about." A man with glasses said as he walked outside and around the woman.

"Thanks Xander!" The shadow, or Max, said, smiling.

Glancing and eyeing me from head to toe, Xander spoke again. "It seems you need supervision as well, Brother."

"What..." Max stares at me for a second. "Oh! Mother, I wanted to talk to you about something, well actually someone..." She looked at me, but, when she did, she lost her smile and became more serious. It felt like she was staring into my soul until I finally looked down.

"Why are you not dead?" She said, still staring at me. I just stared back, shocked.

"Mother?" Max said as a warning, but still smiling.

"I'm sorry, Dear. Please, come inside." I followed her in, Max on my trail. As soon as I was completely in the house,  I smelled the air and noticed dozens of different supernatural scents.

"Shit" I curse under my breath. Max elbows me, giving me a questioning look. I glare at him, and he puts on an awkward smile.

"Now, Max, my dear, sweet Max" Max stares at her, fear in his eyes. "Where on Earth did you find a hybrid?!"

"Well," He rubs the back of his neck, "um, she..." He looks at me, thinking about what to say next. "She was walking in town."

"Liar" A younger looking guy said, walking down the huge stairs I failed to notice. "She fell out of a tree when you were walking by." How the hell did he know that? I sniffed the air again. Shit. "What, did you not notice what I was? Stupid mutt"

"Shut it Theo" Looks like Max is the defending type.

"Why should I? She asked you a question and you lied"

"Both of you, out now!"

"Whatever" With that, Theo left. Max just smiled at me and went into another room.

"Now. Did Max give you any trouble?"

"Well, I guess not..."

"Good, and don't pay a mind to Theo. He's just a grumpy teen" Laughing to herself, she grabs my hand. "Do you have anywhere to stay?" I guess I should answer honestly.

"Not anymore..." I whispered, but she, shockingly, heard me.

"Good. I'll show you your new room"

"Wait what?" I stopped in my tracks, not letting her take me any further down this hallway.

"Don't worry dear, none of us are actually from this world. You're a hybrid, we don't want you getting hurt." I feel like she's going to murder me. "Oh, where are my manners? Did you want me to call your family and tell them they can stay here too?"

"No..." I responded, just above a whisper. "There's no need."

"Are you sure? It would be no trouble. I can just-"

"It's fine."

"Oh, alright. Let's see to your room then."

Once she left me in one of the rooms, I sat on a bed. No one has really brought up my family in years. Nor have I actually talked about them. They died in a fire when I was 5. My new born sister that just came home from my pack's hospital, was with them. Being that I was so young, I was too much in shock to help them or even put out the fire. I felt a tear run down my face.

"What's wrong?" Max asked as he entered my new room that I didn't notice I was in until now. "Let's go get something to eat" He said when I didn't answer him.

We went into the kitchen and as we opened the swinging door, we saw something I didn't think could ever be in a house like this. Then again, I've only seen one female so far.

"What the hell?!" Seeing how Max was more angry then shocked, I'm guessing this happens often. I'm going to have to adapt to everything around me again, which was something I didn't even like doing once.

Hey, it's Ashley. I just wanted to say, thank you for reading and I will be updating every day and I might miss some days because of work and school, but I will still update whenever I can. Chapters will probably be around 1,000 words normally, but I will be making them a lot longer as I go!

Suggestions are always open, but don't feel bad if I don't use them.

Love you,

Ashley
