Suwako rolled onto her back and reached into the sky towards the crescent moon. It was a cold day, not colder than ice, nor colder than snow. But something made it colder. Maybe, just maybe, it was all the frozen frogs. The ponds filled up to the seams with them. Their was no way of making them leave or even melt. You could only wait for the poor amphibians to thaw out with the beginning of spring.
Suwako was young-looking blonde haired girl wearing a purple dress with little dancing frogs sewn on to the bottom it. Sitting next to her was a nice straw hat with two frog-like eyes attached to the utmost top. Obviously, Suwako loved frogs. And just like any amphibian lover, she hated to see all her lovely frogs floating to the top of the ponds, frozen to the bone.
She tolerated it, though. She couldn't help them at the moment, but she did exercise the faint idea of getting back at the person who did it. The very person who we are talking about at the moment is an ice fairy by the name of Cirno. This fairy was known as an idiot-- oh, excuse me, I mean the idiot. Known as a "⑨", Cirno did many mischievous and stupid things. One of those things was of course freezing all the frogs during spring, summer, fall, and winter alike.
Abruptly, a quick burst of air suddenly erupted beneath Suwako as she heard a clamor of something sharp. "'ere she comes..." Suwako sighed. She slowly picked up her hat and stuck it on her head as she knocked polite fully on the rocky thing below her. "Ello? You there, Kero?"
Suddenly, the large thing below her began to croak and wail. It shook with little enthusiasm and jumped from the pond. As it hopped around, Suwako stared with no amusement upon it's bumpy back.
"Kroooaak! Kroooak! Why'd ya' hafta wake me, Sue?" The large frog croaked loudly. "It's 'er again." Suwako shook her head with a long sigh. "Oh, 'ere she is..." She pointed to crack in the ice. But it soon became no more than a large hole in the pond. As a figure arose from the waters, frozen frogs and sharp shards of ice flew about. "Aw, man! Not 'er again! Dang! 'e's like a fricken' cockroach!" Wailed Kero with a tinge of annoyance in his voice. "More like a fly. We can take 'er zis time, Ker!" Suwako said with an optimistic smile.
A girl with short blue hair and a blue dress appeared. She had a blue bow on the back of her head and three diamond-like ice shards on either sides of her back used as wings. The tomboyish girl smiled a big, toothy grin and yelled, "You ready, Suwako?!" "Of course I am, Cirno." Suwako replied calmly. "The question is, are you ready?" Cirno didn't answer, but her aura seemed to answer it pretty well.
Hail started to fall in nice, bullet-like shapes. It pierced the ground with an erupting feeling that shook the earth and sent ripples and waves around in the water. Suwako clapped her hands and leaves and frozen water appeared out of nowhere, ready to turn the battle around.
"I seen all this already! You're like a broken record! Using the same moves and the same characters!" Cirno said as she gestured to Kero. "Yeah, what are you gonna do 'bout it, hmm?" Suwako stared solemnly at Cirno. "Heh, glad you asked. I have a lovely surprise up my sleeve!"
"Cirno, please... You don't have hardly any sleeves." Suwako interrupted. "Huh, well, here ya go!" Yelled Cirno, shaking off the odd-placed humor.
It must of been hundreds of them. Little fairies swarmed around the battlefield as Suwako looked on, unimpressed. "Surprise, surprise, this isn't the only surprise!" Screamed Cirno, enraged. Glittering ice armor appeared on the fairies. A fine layer of ice even covered their wings. Now Suwako looked shocked.
"How long have we known each other?" whispered Suwako. "Not once, have you showed me something... like... like... this..."
"Heeheehee... Shocked? Surprised? Astounded? Astonished?" Giggled Cirno with a creepy smile plastered onto her face.
"Actually..." Suwako whispered. "I pity you!" Laughed Suwako. " How stupid you can be! This is quite low. Even for you. Once I'm done with you, they're all going to be dead!" At this moment all of the fairies started to get jittery and nervous, except Cirno.
"Don't get too full of yourself!" Laughed Cirno. "They're quite strong, you won't know what hit you! Anyway... Let's stop talking, we got a battle to fight!"
Suwako shivered with the morning air and smiled. "Ker," she whispered softly. "You know what to do?" "Yah, I got it, count on me!" Without another word, Kero jumped up into the air and fell flat on his stomach onto a few fairies. He smiled proudly and hopped off. He then looked down onto the vanquished fairies, expecting them to be pounded into pancakes, but no. They stood strong with only a layer of ice sliding off their delicate bodies. The penitrated layer swiftly slid off onto the ground where the fairies rolled it up and threw it at Suwako and her fog.
"Ughhh! What the heck!" Yelled Kero pounding the ground. "Stay calm, Ker. We can beat 'em." Suwako shivered looking a bit surprised. "No, Sue. We will beat 'em!" smiled Kero sensing Suwako's nervousness. Suwako smiled, silently agreeing.
The fairies lunged at Suwako, icy swords appearing in their hands. Kero dodged, spitting a sticky spit ball at the disarray of fairies. It hit a few of them, disarming them and leaving them stuck upon the tall fir trees. Suwako whispered a small spell and an army of frogs appeared. They saluted her and jumped upon the battlefield with all types of gadgets and weapons gripped in their green hands. They struck down a few fairies, but the fairies quickly retaliated, and, excuse the language, kicked the frogs' little green asses.
As the battle raged on with the frogs and the fairies, Cirno and Suwako glared at each other until, finally, Kero announced that he was ready to take a nap unless Suwako really needed him. "OKAY! I'm totally ready to get this party started, yo! Icy armor, come up!" Immediately, a thick ice armor covered Cirno's body, and an icy helmet even covered her head. "How you like me now?!" Cirno smiled and icy gauntlets appeared, then, out of nowhere a big ice sword stood in her hand.
Suwako shook her head and took out a big, steel machine gun. She calmly aimed it at Cirno and shot it. In only a second, thick smoke formed and wrapped up the entire battlefield. "Wowzers. That from yer arsenal, Sue?" said Kero, shocked. "Of course. I had a few weapons left from the last war." Suwako sat down the gun and silently walked away, proud of her destruction. "You can take a nap now, Kero." She thought for sure that the gun would've won the battle.
And she was right.
Cirno and all the other fairies fell like little dead flies onto the ground in defeat. Their ice armor and weapons melted down to water. "Ohhh..." Said Kero noticing that the gun wasn't at all loaded with bullets nor bombs. "Yer smart, Sue." The gun was filled with nothing but fire. Suwako knew to melt the icy situation. The frogs dropped their weapons with a clamor as they met their family members who were once frozen in the ice. The frogs were now melting and ready for a nap. Well, I suppose everyone needed a nap after that, huh?
