a/n: it's been a while...

"So, Avi I have something to ask you. On the night of 23rd of October, about 5 years ago, you were involved in an incident. Want to tell me what happened?" It was another day. A new personality was active. I'd looked through his file and saw this day come up. Scott wasn't present in the room. I felt as if he was going to distract Avi slightly in getting involved if he got a bit emotional. I made him wait outside.

"Well, if I can remember it. I was going home with my friend. It was late.  Out of nowhere this guy just grabs her. Picks her up as if she were nothing. He tried to abduct her. She was screaming for me to help. So I did. I pried her off out of his grip and we began to walk away. Then he pushed me. He wanted a fight. So I gave him one. He ended up unconscious on the ground." He began to get a little emotional. He looked off into the distance. Just to avoid eye contact. I could see tears brimming in his eyes. "I-I didn't know I ended up paralysing him. I didn't think I'd get charged with assault. I-I was just trying to help my friend."

"Were you scared?" I asked him curiously. His gaze seemed agitated, which wasn't a good sign.

"I don't want to continue talking about it." He looked down at his lap.

"It's a simple questio-"

"I don't want to fucking answer your question!" He shouted angrily at me. I looked at him and he had tears falling down his face. His breathing was similar to a bull ready to charge at me.

"Just cal-"

"I don't want to fucking calm down. I want you to fucking leave this room. Leave me alone." He shouted louder than before. "And stop acting like you care about us because you don't." He looked like he was ready to attack me. I was more concerned with the fact that he referred to himself as a collective. Were the personalities aware of each other?

"You have to and you will calm down, understood?" I raised my voice at him. He didn't seem phased by my voice. "You will take me seriously and you must understand that I am only doing my job." I asserted my dominance. He turned away from me and looked out the window. There was a silence. "And just for the record, I wouldn't still be in the room if I didn't care about you."

I waited half an hour for him to calm down. "Now, were you terrified?" I asked him again.

"I-I was terrified. I was scared he was going to try something with me and-" He got choked up and started crying. "Something like that had happened to me in the past and..." Tears fell profusely. "...I didn't want that to happen to her and..." He broke down. I could see how much that affected him.

His cries increased in volume and I didn't know what to do. "Avi?" No response. "Avi?" Still no response. "Benjamin?" He looked up at me, his eyes full of tears. Remarkable. His personalities had just switched before my very eyes. They were interlocked so delicately. Anything could trigger the transition. "Want me to get Scott?" I asked him softly and he nodded.

Anytime my words would be the cause of his tears, it always made me feel terrible. So guilty. I walked out to Scott outside the door. "He needs you right now," I informed him.

He ran into the room. Avi stood up so quickly rushed into Scott's open arms. He cried heavily in his arms. I closed the door behind me and began to go to my office.
