The sky was filled with dark clouds as Jayden sat on her porch watching the oncoming storm. Her eyes scanned the skies as the clouds kept rolling in and continuously got darker by the the minute. "This'll be one hell of a storm." She muttered quietly to herself as she took a sip of her tea.
The sky was illuminated with stripes of lightning every now and again; leaving the soft rumbling of thunder to follow.Normally, a loud crack in the sky signals rain. But instead, something else fell from the sky.
Jayden dropped her tea with shock as a loud bang seemed to shake the ground. The clouds lit up as what looked like a meteor fell towards the earth. Towards her. She quickly moved away from the house as the ball of light made its way over, grazing the top of her house and landing into the neighboring cornfield. The shockwave from the hit shook the ground and Jayden had to hold onto a tree to keep from falling down as she processed what happened.
".....The hell was that?" She asked no one in particular. She could hear the panicked sounds of the chickens in the henhouses along with the upset calls of the turkeys from the barn behind the house. No doubt they were freaked out of their minds right now. After a few more seconds, she made her way to where the light crashed.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~When she got there, she couldn't believe what she saw. There was a boy that looked to be in his early twenties in the debris of dirt and crops. But that wasn't what baffled her. It was the feathery wings attached to the boy's back. The boy moved and Jayden ran down into the crater after remembering that she had feet. Dust and grit fell from the boy's wings as he sat up and rubbed his head, looking at the sky with an expression Jayden thought looked like shame and sadness.
"Where did you come from?" Jayden asked, stopping a few feet away from him. The boy turned his head sharply and looked at her, almost as if he was studying her.
"English"
"What?" She asked, confused. The boy, ignoring her question, looked around and spread his wings, shaking the rest of the dust and dirt off. He took off from the crater and flew several feet into the air before cringing and falling back to the ground.
Jayden climbed out of the crater and ran over to the boy, who was spreading his wings again for another attempt at flight. "Hey now wait a minute!" She said as she grabbed his arm. "What? Why?" He asked, blankly. Jayden paused for a moment. She was expecting him to put up some sort of argument so she had to think of what to say. "Um, well..." Jayden looked at his wings before getting an idea on what to say.
"Your wings are clearly injured so you can't fly anywhere." She said, satisfied with what she said. The boy just shrugged. "Then I'll walk." He stated as he started walking away. Jayden stood there for a few seconds dumbfounded as he continued walking before finally going after him through the cornstalks.
"Where in the world do you think you're going to walk to?" Jayden asked him as she walked at the same pace next to him. "Wherever I feel like going." He replied shortly. "Well where do you expect to go? You don't have a place to stay." She said back at him. The boy stopped and thought to himself. He turned towards Jayden and looked at her. "No, I don't." He said in a thoughtful voice. "But you do. I'll stay there." He stated, bluntly.
"Wait what?" She asked, caught off guard. The winged boy looked her in the eye. "You have a place in which you live and you're insisting that I don't go anywhere because I have no place to stay. The only rational option is to stay where you live." He said. "W-well yeah but..." Jayden stuttered as she tried to come up with a clear sentence. "I don't have any guest rooms that you can sleep in and you're sure as hell not sleeping in my bed."
"That won't be a problem. I don't sleep." He said with a shrug. Jayden sighed, giving up on coming up with a better plan. "I guess.." she said finally. Looking at the boy, she now noticed how dirty he was from when he crashed. "But you need to clean yourself off once we get there. You're covered in dirt and your hair and face can hardly be seen because of all the dust." She told him in a somewhat scolding manner. The boy looked down at himself and then used the back of his hand to wipe some of the dust off his face. "Sounds fair." He replied. After their short debacle, Jayden lead the way through the cornfield back to her house.
