Chad's P.O.V
"Hey buddy you wanna go to the movies tonight?" I asked Haley over the phone at her front door.
"Ugh I don't know..... I have a lot of studying to do and Josh is coming over for another lesson" she replied
"Josh Santiago, really, you'd rather tutor him over going to the movies with your best friend?" I asked smirking and going inside her house and quietly up the stairs to her bed room door.
"Of course not babe" She said sounding as if she were smiling "You wanna come over?"
"I'd love to" I grinned walking into her room causing her to jump a little and then chuckle.
"Why do you keep doing that Chad? You do know you're just wasting minutes right?" she grinned getting up to give me a hug.
"Anything for you babe" I said as I looked down into her icy blue eyes that ironically melted my heart. The things she could do to me with just one look, but she probably hears and gets a lot of comments like that from boys like Josh. Don't get me wrong now, he's a nice guy, but knowing he gets to spend extra time with her makes me sick with envy.
"Take a picture it lasts longer" she blushed before walking over to her bed
"Wait don't I get a kiss?" I asked grabbing her by the waist and back into my arms
"How could I forget to give my best friend a kiss? Oh I know because he now has a girlfriend" she stated.
"That never stopped you before and it's not like we're making out or anything that would just be crossing the line with our friendship and it's just a kiss like your kissing your mom and dad when you were younger but I'm cuter and it doesn't mean anything" I lied and I could have sworn I saw a flicker in her eyes but it was gone as soon as it came. Then she smiled but it didn't reach her eyes which usually caused her it to sparkle.
"If it's not important why do you want it?" she asked teasingly
"Because I wanna remember you when I sleep at night, when you kiss me I go home and I'll try to fall asleep and can't. I'll need to remember this moments because It's funny and special coming from my best friend knowing that she still loves me even though she chose to tutor some Josh kid over going to the movies with me and I'll sleep like a baby" I grinned at her "So why don't you wanna kiss me?" I asked looking from her eyes to her lips
"Because your girlfriend doesn't like me" she whispered and that's when I had to step back and look at her quizzically. How can someone not like my Haley? "She really doesn't" she blushed.
"And why do you think so?" I questioned
"I don't think so I know so. She said so herself" she mumbled and I raised a brow "well she didn't really say it out loud exactly" and then I couldn't help but smile "Don't smile Chad" she hit me playfully "She grabbed me by the arm and..."
"Wait she grabbed you?" I asked now a bit pissed that someone touched her like that and not just someone.... My girlfriend.......
"Yeah she did after we left the beach and you told me to ride back with her you weren't looking and she practically dragged me to her car and barked at me 'who do you think you are laughing and hugging my boyfriend like that? He's my boyfriend not yours so stop rubbing up on him. If he wanted you he would have asked you to be his girlfriend' *or if I knew how you felt about me* and that's what she said and I don't want to be the one to get her angry have you seen her in a bitch fight before? I don't want to be her next victim Chad" she pleaded with me
"You want me to break up with her?" I asked sincerely
"What? Are you crazy? Why would you even think that? I wouldn't want to be the one to come between the girl you might want to marry someday *you have no idea Haley* what kind of best friend would I be?" she questioned in an appalled voice.
"Uh the best" I grinned and she gave me a this-is-serious look "Think about the fact that she might be bad for me, you'd be helping to point that out as a best friend, boy or girl, should"
"I actually think she's a really nice girl and could probably make you happy she just doesn't like the fact that another girl's that close to her boo" she smiled weakly
"You really are something Haley" I grinned pulling her back into my arms "best's friend a guy could ever ask for. But ... I still need to sleep at night so I got to get a kiss" I said smiling down at her as she smiled up at me and tipped on her toe and pecked me on the lips. "Were you eating fries?" I asked licking my lips. And she grinned and sprung to her bed grabbing the bag of greasy fries probably from Chilli's our little hang out spot for junk food. "And you didn't think of mentioning that to me?" I asked walking towards her to take the fries but she shook her head "No, no, no Haley, that just won't do" I said as I pounced at her taking the fries and running to the bathroom closing it behind me.
"No! Chad don't Please!! Please!" She cried and as she repeatedly hit the bathroom door and I heard footsteps coming up the stairs so I hid in the shower and ate slowly
"What's going on in here?" I heard Mr Winter yell probably looking for me so that he can slice my head off. "Where is the bastard? And what did he do?" He asked probably checking Haley for scars or bruises. Poor Mr Winter's probably thinks I was trying to rape her or something.
"He's in the bathroom and he took my French fries" she told him sounding a bit confused at how ready he sounded to kill someone.
"Ok sweetie stand back so I can –" suddenly there was silence "He did what?" he asked now sounding angry at her.
"He took my French fries. What did you think happened?" she asked
"Hales I thought you were being...... you know what? Just don't scare me like that or I'll be using this bat on you ok? And Chad get your ass out of my bathroom" He stated before what sounded like leaving the room.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Wow Hales you really know how to get him started" I laughed as I left the bathroom and lay on her bed
"What just happened here?" she asked confused
"Your dad just had the strange feeling you were being raped and I was the one doing it" I laughed.
"Why would he think that?" she asked
"Did you just here yourself? You were practically crying 'No! Chad don't Please!! Please!' I'm surprized the cops and passer-by's didn't come up those stairs" I said imagining that actually happening "You could have gotten me killed Haley!" I shot up and saw she was standing right in front of me probably coming to the same conclusion.
"Yeah I realised that and I'm really sorry" she pouted. Wow.....
"It's all good man" I mumbled laying back down trying to clear my head of all those thoughts. She's my best friend for crying out loud and she doesn't even think of me like that.
