"YOU'RE telling me George Freeman haunts this place?" I asked Chad after our paranormal encounter.

"Unfortunately. During the Roaring Twenties, when everyone had money, Principal Freeman, a young wealthy bank owner, decided to build a school. He supervised the building of this school. He even decided to be the principal. And he stayed here, during the Great Depression and World War 2, even when others left.

"Then, in 1944, everything fell apart. He was getting up in age, and running Freeman was getting to him. And, to make matters worse, he just found out his only grandson died in the war. The stress got to him. He came to school on a Friday night, no one knows why though. He had a heart attack in his office, and he died in his office. He wasn't found until the next week."

"I don't like where this is going." I said.

"He never left. He walks the hallways, seeing what his school has become. I've heard he's a peaceful ghost." Chad replied.

"That was not peaceful!" I blurted loudly.

"I don't know why he was coming after us. That was the first time I've seen him... since freshman year."

"What happened freshman year?"

"I'd rather not talk about it."

I grabbed his arm. "You can tell me anything." I told him.

"He almost killed me. My mom used to be a teacher here. She taught Geometry in the 300 hall. we were here one night, having some teacher party. I had to go, since it was my mom's week."

"Your parents are divorced?" I interrupted.

"Yes, now can I get back to my story?"

"Yeah, carry on."

"So, anyway, Mom sent me to the cafeteria to get forks and spoons. I'd heard the story of George Freeman, but I didn't believe it. And I knew the cafeteria used to be Freeman's office, but I wasn't scared."

"Really?"

"Ashley!"

"Sorry. Continue."

"I was in the cafeteria, about to come back with the forks and spoons, when I saw him. He was wearing pure white, suit, shirt, and shoes. He had piercing blue eyes, and silky white hair. He had a sorrowful smile, until he saw me staring at him. He looked horrified, then mad. His eyes and clothes turned midnight black. He attacked me." He lifted his shirt. I saw on his skinny chest four deep white scars stretching from his top right rib all the way down to the bottom of his left side. He turned around, and showed me a large white cross filling his back.

"That's horrible, Chad!" I shrieked.

"I dropped the forks and spoons then never went into the cafeteria again."

"Chad, I'm so sorry." I hugged him. "Is that why you eat in the hallway?"

He nodded. Lockers banged again. "Let's get those waters and get out of here. I hate this place at night."

"Agreed." I smiled. Some first date, huh?"

"Yeah." We held hands, got the waters, and ran out to join the rest of the team.
