"Hi beautiful," Michael whispered, bringing his much younger, much shorter boyfriend into a hug. The girls who were gawking at Michael now looked away after seeing him with Luke.
"Hi." Luke whispered, weakly hugging back. He kept his head down and held back sobs as he walked to the car hand-in-hand with Michael. Michael frowned and kept his hand on Luke's, not knowing what had upset him so much.
The ride home nearly broke Michael's heart in two. Luke didn't try holding in the sobs anymore, allowing himself to cry. Michael wanted the ride to be over so he could make Luke feel better. He hates seeing the blond cry.
Soon, they were in the driveway of their house. Michael looked over at his crying boyfriend and untangled their fingers, rubbing Luke's shoulder, "Baby, we're home."
Luke sniffled and nodded, undoing his seatbelt and getting out of the car. Michael sighed and did the same, locking it after and finding the key to unlock his front door. He noticed how Luke was hugging himself, how he did whenever he was sad or self conscious. Luke looked up sadly, "Y-You l-love, me r-right?"
Michael stopped what he was doing, and turned to Luke, "Of course, I love you more than anything, Lu. Where's this coming from?"
"Just wondering." Luke shrugged.
Michael sent a worried glance toward the boy, before opening the door. Luke pushed past him and ran upstairs immediately.
"Luke!" Michael yelled, stepping into the house and shutting the door. He dropped his keys onto a table and darted upstairs after Luke.
When Michael opened their bedroom door, he didn't expect Luke to be laying in bed with a pair of shorts Luke had quickly changed into, crying into their sheets. "Oh Luke," Michael whispered, kneeling down in front of Luke.
"Go a-away," Luke sobbed. He saw Michael crouched down with a frown on his face.
Michael ignored Luke's demand and wiped at the mascara he only just saw running. He noticed now that there was a darker tone to Luke's skin, meaning he wiped it away himself in the car.
"What's wrong, babe?" Michael asked, getting up and getting into the bed with Luke. He took his shoes off as he did so, wrapping his arms around Luke's shaking body.
"They told me I was ugly, that I'll never get married. That no one'll love me. That everyone's only friends with me out of pity. They also called me fat, and that-that I'm worthless." Luke cried, his voice breaking on some words. "I'm overreacting."
Michael sat up and pulled Luke with him, looking into the blue eyes he loves and speaks, "None of that is true, Lu. I love you, your parents love you, Cal and Ash love you and most certainly didn't befriend you out of pity. I want to marry you someday, have kids and grow old with you. And I don't know how they think you're fat, because you sure as hell aren't. Your thighs are beautiful, your stomach is beautiful, and so are the acne scars on your face. You aren't worthless, either. You're worth so much, Lu."
Luke started crying again, but for a different reason. He latched himself onto Michael and repeated "I love you," over and over again.
"You even look gorgeous when you've got mascara and eyeliner all over you," Michael whispered, trying to wipe it off. "I love you, kitten."
Luke felt pretty, and it was all thanks to Michael.
