Chapter 2

I opened the door and saw I small note. I picked it up and looked on the back, it didn't say it was from anyone. It said it was to me, though. Since I couldn't find a name besides mine, I decided to set it on my mom's dresser to see if she knew anything about it.

I heard the door open and my mom walked in with bags of groceries, including one that read, 'Claire's', even though nobody in my grade shops there anymore. The Claire's bag was probably for piper. She put away the groceries and went in her room and saw the note.
"Hey, Maelle" my mom said.
"Yeah?"
"What's this letter, it says it's to you"
"Oh, I don't know, it came this afternoon"
"It doesn't say it's from anyone"
"I know, I thought you would know" I say back to her.
"Well, get this off of my dresser, it was perfectly clean when I left"
I grabbed the envelope and went to go put it in my room.

BIR!BIR!BIR! My alarm rang at 6:00 the next morning. I rolled around in bed, moaning while slowly stepping out of the bed. I continued to get ready for school and made it to the bus stop by 7:45.
Once I got to school I grabbed my books from my locker and headed to first period, which for me is science. Piper was in this class, what a great way to start off the day, not. We have a whole five minute passing time so I made it there with 2 minutes still remaining until class starts.
"MAELLE! It is SOOO awesome to see you! I haven't seen you since, like, yesterday"
Piper shouted from across the room. She said yesterday like it was awhile, I wish it was.
"Oh! Hi Piper, missed you too"
I said back to her sarcastically.
DING! DING! DING! The bell rang, class started.

By the end of the day I got on the bus and went home. Once I got home I walked into the kitchen, looking for a glass to get water with. When I glanced over at the sink I saw the mysterious letter. Hmmm... I thought, should I open it? I think it's about time. I grab the letter and begin to tear it open.
