You once was told about this "underground" back at the orphanage you lived in since your parents died in a car wreck 5 years ago. It was a tragic memory that would pop up at the most random moments. You can still hear your mother and father faintly in your mind screaming in agony from shards of glass forced into their bodies. For your whole life, you've felt miserable and depressed without them.
It's nearly midnight and you've eventually worked up a plan to pack up and run away from this hell hole. All you've gotten with you is your heart-shaped locket with your parent's photos in them. You've been prepared for this for so long, then you begin to shake.
Just the thought of being caught makes you feel uneasy, but you soon regain your courage and tiptoe to the door. As you slowly open the door, it squeaks a bit loudly and you ease the door wide enough to exit. You hear tapping on the marble floor behind you and your heart races. You quickly grab a flashlight to see who this is. It's your dog Gabby; you was relieved by the sight of your pit bull.
You look around to make sure you're unseen. Once you make sure no one's around, you dash into the snowy field! A cold breeze rushes through your thin clothing and your (h/c) hair, bare feet and ripped shorts. Gabby comes racing after! Your skin is almost as the color of the snow. Only thing that warmed you was your mother's scarf and your father's trenchcoat. You cling tight and look down as you slowly come to a stop. You're then out of breath. Gabby stops as well panting and shivering.
It's 12:56am, and your feet are a faint blue and numbed by the thick snow. You eventually make it to a town with tall buildings, lights on every street, and the moon's light gleaming upon the skyscrapers. Your stomach tightens. You're hungry. You then remember that you left your chore money in your pillow.
That's just lovely.
You spy a restaurant nearby that's lit up in cozy, warm colors. Well since you're broke now, you sit on the bench at the bus stop mooning over for food. Gabby whines of hunger for she is starving, too. She jumps onto the bench with you and cuddles into your trenchcoat.
*After half an hour later*
You're still awake, staying alert for anyone while Gabby is sound asleep. You then feel a warm presence and a faint light coming behind me. You look to see a man of flame holding a plate of many different foods. Your mouth watered by the soft and well done texture and its seasoned smell.
Gabby nose twitches and suddenly wakes up to the smell. She turns desperate and whines for the food that's he's holding.
Your stomach growls as you glare at the food. The man hands you the plate and you are able to see it in closer view. The hot steam rising of the big juicy steak and it glistens from the moon's light. You nod and take the plate. He nods back with a pleased expression.
"Do I have to pay?" You ask him.
He lifts his hand and shakes hid head to decline politely. You nod as to thank him. "Would you like to come in?" He asks.
"Yes, please! I mean um...yes." you answer back still shivering.
He holds out his hand and you take it. Gabby seems pleased with this man and happily wags her tail.
"Oh, and uh...Can Gabby come in?"
"Gabby?"
"M-my dog."
He leans over to greet the dog and feeds a her a bisquit. Now why does he have dog bisquits? I guess that's not really important here.
Anyway, he nods and a smile gently comes across your face. You both walk into the door and a rush of warm air brushes across your face.
*After you're done eating*
