Jennifer woke up to the sound of Tornic eating a deer, he must have caught it. She slowly sat up and stretched then looked around, seeing a far away gate through the trees. She slowly stood up and walked over to get a better view.
"Hey," she said, "there's a city over there!"
Hmm. Tornic pondered. From what I see that is Clevon Lisors, which is cliff swords in dragon tongue, many places use dragon tongue now a days.
"Huh, cool." She stared at the gate for a while.
"Hey! Maybe I can go get some supplies from in there!"
I would prefer you didn't try...it is the capital of the kingdom.
"What? No it's not."
No, not the kingdom of the forest, the kingdom outside the forest, they know nothing about the forest kingdom.
"Oh, ok." Jennifer stood there, a bit puzzled.
Jennifer later got her stuff ready and headed to the capital, once she had gotten to the gates, two guards moved their spears in front of it.
"Halt! Who goes there?"
"I'm Jennifer, I'm just here for supplies. I mean no harm."
They thought for a bit then let her in. Jennifer smiled and walked in. After a while she came out of a store with a bag of supplies, she noticed a knight in shining armor, rather young. She just kept walking, unsure about him. She ran out the gate and back to Tornic.
"I'm back buddy," she said.
Good, you're safe, I was worrying. I'm taking you got the supplies?
"Yep." Jennifer opened the bag to show Tornic, he smiled.
Good. Tornic's ears flicked...he heard something. All of a sudden, the knight from earlier jumped out from no where and charged at Tornic, his sword unsheathed. Jennifer jumped in front of Tornic and unsheathed her sword, blocking the knight's sword. She pushed him back and sliced at his head, knocking his helmet off.
"What are you doing? It's a dragon!" He was a 15 year old boy.
"He's my dragon, and no one hurts my dragon" Jennifer said with a scowl.
"Wait...you tamed it?"
"No, he chose me when he hatched."
"Huh...I'm Warrick," he held his hand out. Jennifer slowly shook it.
"Jennifer..." Warrick smiled and chuckled.
"Sorry about that, now I'll be back at Clevon Lisors."
"No, I don't trust you."
"What?"
"You're coming with us, I don't want you telling anyone about me and Tornic, we already have enough of a problem with the beast of the darkness."
"Beast of the what...?"
"Long story," Jennifer tied up Warrick's arms and tied him onto Tornic's belly.
"When can I leave?"
"Until I trust you."
Days had passed, Jennifer still didn't trust Warrick, but he was rather nice, charming, she never really looked at him much but he had hazel eyes and brown hair, his hair was rather long and messy though. They were in the forest, a campfire lit, Jennifer sighed.
"What's wrong," Warrick asked, "you don't sound so happy."
"It's nothing." Jennifer replied with a sigh in it.
"Are you sure?"
"No I'm not sure..."
"What's wrong?"
"You know the beast I talked to you about?"
"Yea?"
"It killed my mother and father..."
"It did...?"
Jennifer replied with a crying sound, "Yes...it did...I miss them so much."
"Hey, don't cry!"
Jennifer couldn't handle it, she started crying. All she had wanted was a happy life with her family, her mom, dad, maybe even get a little sibling or a close friend she could call a sibling. She felt a hug. Warrick was hugging her, trying to comfort her.
"It's ok..." he said sweetly, "we'll avenge them, I promise."
"We'll...?"
"Yes, I can't stand a woman crying."
"How come? Are their tears to much for you?" she chuckled.
"Hah! No, just...my sister would cry a lot when she lost a friend, we moved a lot..."
"Oh. Me and Tornic have been living in different parts of the forest and moving a lot."
"Guess we're not that different, huh."
"Guess not." Jennifer laid back on the ground and watched the stars.
"What's on your mind?"
She looked at him. "Don't you ever wonder if the souls of the dead become stars?"
"Actually...yes, as if their" Jennifer and Warrick said it at the same time, "souls live on as stars."
"Hehe, we have a lot of the same thoughts."
"Yea," he chuckled, "only you're not a knight."
"True, but I don't have to be one, it's not like you're just a knight and that's all that's different."
"Yea...that's true..." Warrick yawned. "Well, I'm gonna hit the load off."
"Me too." Jennifer replied while laying down, Tornic curled around her. Warrick looked at Tornic thoughtfully for a while, but then fell asleep.
