Chapter 3
{Emily's Pov}
I woke up to a distant sound of a loud gunshot.
We all sat up, woken from a somewhat peaceful sleep. Who would be shooting rounds at this time? Why would they even be using a gun.
Krystal and Carl both went up to the window, each of them standing by one side. Krystal pulled the curtain back slowly, peeking her eyes through, as Carl did the same.
No words were spoken, all they did was glare at each other, a glare of fear is all I could make of it. I shivered slightly thinking of what could be out there, worse than a walker? or maybe not quite.
"We have to get out of here.." Carl said, stuttering in his own words. He grabbed his hat, and tucked his gun back into his pocket.
"We can't go out there." Krystal said, gripping his forearm, "they're everywhere, we'd have no chance."
He rolled his eyes, and pushed her arm away.
"If you wanted to live, you'd leave" he stated, before sliding the dresser away from the door. We all stood together watching him, it was like he had no fear towards those things, he was brave, something I wish I could be.
I stepped away from Sarah and Krystal, "if you go out there just know, you're not going alone." I picked up a small gun that was laying near the end of the mattress.
"Emily are you crazy?" Sarah whined, tugging on my shirt. I shook my head, and turned over to Carl. "I'm just trying to survive." He smiled and opened the door, we both walked out not looking back.
Instead of taking the front door, we went out the back, I'm guessing to get away from the walkers. We didn't talk much during this, but I don't think time would be the best intention on doing it either, he seems too determined to get of here.
I heard repeated tapping on the window, over and over, I looked up and saw Krystal pointing towards Carl lipping, "Look up" I looked over at him, he was looking down, fixing his gun as he walked into the woods. A group of walkers noticed him and began towards him. I panicked, and froze I didn't know what to do.
"Carl" I said in a soft tone, "Carl" I tried to make myself become louder but if I did, others would hear me. I took in a deep breathe, "Carl look up" I shouted to him.
He looked up away from his gun so quickly his hat fell off, by now the walkers were nearly feet away from us, and others coming from behind, we were doomed.
I got my gun out and ran next to Carl, he took down two or three, as did I, until our buckets ran out. His breathing became heavy, watching them come closer and closer.
Without a warning every one that got closer was shot down, and as we stood there they all began to fall.
Carl turned his head to where the gun shots we're coming from, "no.." He murmured under his slightest breath. I looked over my shoulder, a man with a patch across his eye stood there, he and other men approached us.
"What are you two kids doing out here all alone?" He asked, looking us down. Carl gulped at the sight of this man, I just stood still, scared.
"We were just looking for a safe place, that's it." Carl said, looking over at me. I nodded in agreement, I'm guessing he knows this guy, or something like that.
"Well then, be careful going that way, don't think you wanna become one of those things dinner" he gave us a grin, and turned back to the white truck his me were in.
Carl watched him, giving him a long stare. "He's not gonna walk away without taking us or killing us, you know that right?" He asked, picking his hat up and walking into the woods.
