3 days later ;; 12:18 pm

*Buzz*

unknown number: hey

I looked down to see my phone light up, a text message popped onto my home screen.

me: hey?

u/n: are you free right now?

me: who's this?

2 minutes later

u/n: max

A finger laid upon my chin, "Max?" I thought, trying to pull a faint memory out of my head.

"Oh!" I shouted, finally figuring out that Max was the nice one from the store. I quickly decided to reply, eager to get out of my stuffy apartment.

me: grocery store max?

max: yep that's me

max: you hungry?

me: a little, where do you wanna meet?

I actually wanted to say: always, of course, or a big OBVIOUSLY. But, it's probably just a girl thing to act all petite and stereotypical before the guy actually gets to know you.

max: i was thinking i could pick you up?

Red flag? Maybe. It's okay though, because I have the police on speed dial. Why wouldn't I though? Considering I live alone and all that junk. Within around thirty seconds, I manage to give him my address to my apartment complex. I gave him the wrong address to a few apartments over; I just want to avoid future stalking. Can't blame myself, I just met the guy.

max: i'll meet you there in a few minutes

I slide my phone into my pocket, and hop off my giant couch that would consume me if I was  near the middle. I straighten my shirt, fix my pants and brush my fingers through my hair. I headed towards a mirror. My lips puckered into a big heart shape, and I posed. Next, my tongue hang over my lip and I scrunched my nose. Satisfied, I left the mirror, taking my wallet and heading out the door. The breeze was warm, and the air was sweet. The sun blasted its yellow rays onto the streets. My feet began, stepping one in front of the other as I made my way to the parking lot. The phone shook, and I whipped it out of my pocket and dropped my head as I read the screen. My eyes lifted, and suddenly I saw the same guy from before, in a car with the windows rolled down. I jogged over with a shy smile.

"Hey! Mind if I take shot gun?" My fingers gripped on the rolled down window, my voice gentle.

"Go 'head" Max unlocked the car, and pushed his sunglasses up.

I nodded, took a step back and pulled the car door open. "Thanks" I placed my feet into the car and planted my bottom into the seat, draping a buckle across my chest.

"What are you hungry for?"

"Anything? I guess.." I chuckled, my eyes distracted by my phone.

"I know just the place"

13 minutes later

We drove quietly for about ten minutes, and Max pulled into a pizza parlor. He told me how people have been raving about this place, and that he's been wanting to try it for a while. I only nodded, and bit my lip. I stared at the building for a minute while he talked. It was brown, with a few red, green, and gold accents. It had a classy, aesthetic vibe as people in groups walked in. One thing that was stuck, burning in my throat? This is where my ex had decided to break up with me.
